Beautiful place. Beautiful spa lovely staff

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 19 Aug 2022
We stayed here on a midweek spa break. The staff were really lovely from start to finish. The spa was beautiful and the lovely lady showed me where everything was. The spa was the cleanest loveliest pool and hydrotherapy pool and saline was so much lovelier to swim in. Our room With balcony was out of this world such gorgeous views! My new favourite place to stay! We will be back.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of our hotel and Spa. You have done wonders for my mental health after my having had to answer nasty malicious reviews from people with a grudge!

I an very pleased that you enjoyed your Spa Break. I agree saline pools are so much pleasanter and healthier than chlorine pools.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best wishes

Lorana

Beautiful views, bedroom was a good size.
Air con was noisy but it didn’t prevent us from sleeping.
shower curtain over the bath with no grab rail made it awkward for my husband to get in & out of shower.
Bath robes could do with replacing!
Food was ok, but asking us to choose our evening meal at check in a bit annoying.
Breakfast as previously mentioned was limited.
The pool etc was nice & clean.

An honest review by a seasoned traveller. Where do I start? Firstly with the positives, there were none.
If you decide to stay at this rip off Hotel then be prepared to suffer the same hardship that we encountered?
I called the Hotel 2 weeks prior to our stay to ask for us to go straight to our room on arrival, around 1.30. p.m. The girl I spoke to noted my request and informed me that she would do everything she could to arrange this request. Yes, you’ve guessed the outcome, a very rude jobsworth of a receptionist told me that I could not go to our room until 3.00. p.m. Check Out time is incidentally 11.00. a. m. I posed the question with no answer forthcoming only to be told that if she let us go to our room then everybody else staying at the Hotel would want to do the same. She would give no quarter. Another much kinder lady on reception intervened explaining that we could use the lovely(?) changing room facilities to get ready to attend a Wedding. The changing rooms were inadequate, dark and with no towels to be seen? I had to acquire a moth eaten, old tatty threadbare towel to use to dry myself after showering. In the ladies changing room there was just one power point creating further problems for my partner getting ready.
Thankfully we left the Hotel to attend and enjoy the Wedding to return around 11.30. p.m. with other family members to have some drinks and a chat at the bar. Even though we were residents the bar was closed and when I questioned why I was just informed that it was closed and that drinks were out of the question.
The Hotel itself is extremely poor value for what we paid, soft drinks and Tea/Coffee are vastly overpriced. Our room cost was £113.00 just for an 8 hour sleep. Breakfast was not included. I will not stay at this poor excuse for a Hotel again, I trust that if you ponder staying there you think again, don’t be extremely disappointed like we were.

Room tip: No comment!!!

This is a ridiculous malicious review. It's laughable that you start with "An honest review" that's like someone starting a conversation with "trust me"

Your main gripe was that you booked a hotel with check in at 3pm and because of a wedding you needed to check in earlier at 1.30pm. I looked at Travelodge & Premier Inn, given the fact that you are obviously looking for the cheapest accommodation possible, they too have a 3 pm check in and are more expensive than the price you paid with us for a room for 2 without breakfast. Hotels have to thoroughly clean their rooms and housekeeping employees work very hard to get rooms ready by 3pm. Your correspondence from the hotel would have made it clear that our check in is at 3pm. If you needed access at 1.30pm, you should have booked 2 nights.

I couldn't understand your comment on the inadequate dark changing room and had to investigate further. Apparently the receptionist said you could go to the outside golfers changing rooms belonging to the golf club! These changing rooms are purely functional and we do not claim that they are luxury. They do not have towels supplied but I believe someone found you some of our old discarded spa towels. Our golfers do not require vanity units and multiple power points, but had you stayed for 2 nights your partner could have gone to our beauty department and enjoyed a truly luxurious facial in readiness for the wedding.

Apart from the fact that I would have thought you consumed sufficient alcohol at the wedding not to need a drink at 11.30pm on your return. The bar closes at 11pm.

I am told you were rude and obnoxious to staff and took the view that you didn't care what the rules were for other guests, you expected to get access immediately.

If you think £113 for a large double room for 2 people, with a balcony & overlooking the golf course and countryside is expensive then you haven't been doing much travelling recently. It was a very cheap price, you can hardly blame a hotel because you were out all day and only slept there. I would suggest you try to book a small private bed & breakfast / boarding house if the same situation occurs again, although in the high season they may well cost more, they will probably be able to offer more flexibility on check-in times..

Overpriced hotel. £130 without breakfast in a hotel that is nothing special. We were at a family get together that started at 3.30 that was a 15 minute drive away to be told we cant get in our rooms till 3.
The aircon unit in the corner of the room was so loud you could not sleep with it on, leading to a very uncomfortable night. I have had 4 mosquito bites come up over the following day, could the maids not spray the room upon completion?

Really!

Almost all hotels have a 3pm check-in, all the rooms have to be thoroughly cleaned and it is a big job for housekeeping.

If you look at hotel prices you will find that £130 was very reasonable.

We are not in the tropics and don't spray poisonous chemicals everywhere in case a mosquito turns up. Guests can bring their own mosquito deterrent if they want to.

And incidentally, given your comment, Premier Inns are good hotels but they also has a 3pm check-in and their rooms cost £132 at todays prices. You would not have a very large room, there would be no balcony and no stunning view. You would most probably be in a built up area and not in the beautiful Kent countryside, but feel free.

Lovely sized room with a fabulous view over the golf course. Good amenities within the room. It was a hot evening so you could either use the aircon unit (quite noisy) or a fan. We opted for the fan. Great black out curtains and quiet. 2 double beds which were comfortable. We stayed on a spa break. Good size pool with a large jacuzzi thermo pool. Also a sauna and steam room that was mixed. If you didn't want this, there were also female or male only Jacuzzis, steam and sauna rooms. Changing areas modern and clean. Evening meal needs to be pre ordered. Nice touch was cheese and biscuits for my husband. He wasn't able to have any of the desserts due to being diabetic. Breakfast was the only let down. Currently no breakfast staff so continental only. This consisted of fresh fruit, cheese, ham, cereals, croissants, toast and cake. Would have been nice to have a joghurt option. My husband struggled with everything on offer and said a boiled egg would have been a nice option. They could cook these the night before. Those not used could be used in the lunchtime niscoise salad maybe. All in all though we enjoyed our stay and will keep an eye out for offers to return at some point

The hotel looked lovely on the website with views of the golf course. We arrived and went up to the room to find the balconies have no dividers, therefore no privacy from any guests and a big sign on the door stating a strict no smoking policy incurring an £80 fine in the hotel and on the balcony. Plus you could not consume your own alcohol in your room which also incurred an £80 fine!!!
Not a place you can go to relax at all.

There are no hidden fines beyond that for smoking in the room, since the room has to be given an intensive clean to remove the smell of cigarettes. You cannot smoke in the hotel, it is against the law to smoke in public areas. You can smoke in the designated areas outside. I thought everyone was aware of that by now.

It is normal for hotels to refuse to allow guests to bring their own wine. Hotels that have their own bars have always done this. If you bring your own you pay corkage which is £15 for still and £18 for sparkling wine. Not £80! To avoid this you need to go to a motel or Travelodge etc. They are not licenced premises and do not mind.

The balconies are separated by railings, not full screens as that would spoil the view for other guests.
