See the grapes growing. See how the wine is made. Taste the end product. Chapel Down is Britains largest wine producer, with an International reputation for quality wines. Had a good tasting, outside under the shade of trees. Tried several sparkling wines. All had different characteristics, but all were clean, fully integrated with a good balance of sweetness (or lack of), acidity, body and tannin. Good boquets. Good after tastes. Not cheap, but worth every penny that you pay. This award winning Company deserves all the National and International awards they have chalked up so far. The explanations of the various stages of winemaking were easily understood, and obviously given by people who know their trade. In the shop I did not fare so well - I have poor e3yesight and could not find items I needed, but a young lady member came to my rescue and sorted out my needs in an instant. Overall, a very good experience, that I will one day repeat.

Thank John G

once you've visited the home of Chapel Down you realize why the their beers and wines are SO perfect. every detail is meticulously maintained throughout (the decor, the plants, landscaping, herb garden etc) it shows just how much they care, and their produce is a great reflection of this.
.
on arrival we went straight into the shop as we had a little while before our tour, and immediately we where struck by just how happy and friendly the staff where.
After browsing through the beautiful (mostly) local foods in store, we were given a map of the grounds and decided to do both the trail walks around the site (one takes 20 mins, the other 10mins) not before having a relaxing walk and sit down in the peaceful herb garden.

the walks take you around the perimeter of the land with lovely views out to sussex and the surrounding countryside. different grape vines are noted on the map as you walk around.

Following this we went up for coffee in the Swan Restaurant where once again the staff were indredibly informative, welcoming and friendly. the decor is great, with a scenic views from a balcony.
the tour was incredibly interesting and informative, every time a question arose in my mind the guide answered it before id had time to ask it!
our day finished off with wine tasting was v. fun of course!
all in all £10 for a full day out in one of the most relaxing and accomodating places ive been is money well worth spent.
the staff deserve a massive pat on the back for their enthusiasm and across the board lovliness!!
definitely go, you will not be disappointed.

The window dressing is elegant: In the bar, aged wine barrel planks are shaped into woven wall art and dramatically offset with accent light; a copper and blonde wood bar counter, a few small black tables surrounded by bespoke high-back chairs upholstered in tweed blazers. In the restaurant moss green walls offset chrome and glass chandeliers; a unique wine collection is secured behind a glass fronted temperature controlled cabinet. When one of the England’s finest contemporary chef’s teams up with a premier wine maker (hello royal wedding) you know you’re about to embark on a journey of discovery and that something special is going to happen. And it does!

Easy to find, plenty of parking..........though we got a taxi from the William Caxton where we were staying in Tenterden about 2 miles away...........£5 each way. Our guide David made the whole experience so worthwhile, great knowledge, personality, answered every question regardless. Tour took just over an hour then it was tasting time, prima, an afternoon very well spent and came away with a lot knowledge and wine!!

Had a great afternoon with girlfriend and parents at the Chapel Down winery. The tour was very informative - compares very well to tours I have done in France, much happier to answer questions and the love of the company is obvious from all you talk to.

Finished off with a variety of tastings (all excellent wines, and great examples of English wines - but if you're expecting big bold flavours like would be found in an Oz / California wine then you may be disappointed). The wines are subtle but extremely good. I was a big fan of the chardonnay, whereas my other half preferred the Bacchus - and we both loved the sparkling and dessert wine.

Finally we had some excellent food and bought a few things in the shop. Would definitely go back if I was in the area - maybe even make a special trip!
