“Traditional English market town hotel”

...complete with creaky corrdors and fire doors in inconvenient places, but it is what it is, and as long as you are not a habitué of luxury establishments or chain hotels it is comfortable.

Location: Right on the High Street, at the "better" end. Car park round th back quite difficult to find, as the Google map suggests you can drive past the church, which you can't!

Reception: Very friendly and helpful.

Room: Somewhat old-fashioned but bright and cheerful. My room was on the front and therefore subject to traffic noise which does not bother me, although seekers after peace should request a room at the back of the hotel. Bathroom was adequate and clean with good hot water pressure in the shower..
My only criticsm was the eccentric television reception; the barman had to come up twice to get it working on more than one channel. In the end we rejected the laminated instructions and he tuned it in differently.

Bar and restaurant: Good bar, which the night porter runs after closing time and serves until there are no more customers. Breakfast was cooked to order and served in the beamed dining room. I did not have dinner as I wanted to try out the Turkish restaurant (very good) across the road.

I was particularly impressed with the hotel's ability to handle large groups with calm assurance and a smile. While I was there, the local Rotarians were having a dinner, during which a coach party from Germany arrived and was checked in with great efficiency.

If you don't like a slightly old-fashioned and very English hotel, then it may not be for you, but it suited my purpose and I found it a great deal better than some of the previous reporters. Maybe I was lucky.

Room Tip: If you like a bright room and don't mind traffic noise, stay at the front of the hotel. If you...

Stayed here after a wedding reception and could not recommend it.

The 'character' was more shabby than chic. Our room was at the front of the hotel and was, therefore, very noisey. I was also small and hot. The bathroom was tiny and the floor was tacky, which was not pleasant. There was virtually no hot water presure.

I would rather have spent £30 less on a Premier Inn and at least had a good nights sleep and feel clean in the morning.

On the plus side the cooke breakfast was very nice.

Best Western Rose and Crown is a convenient hotel in the centre of Tonbridge, less than ten minutes walk from the train station.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. We were able to check in an hour early and they booked a taxi for us and provided a map.
The main hotel building on High Street is a beautiful 16th Century building but we were in the annex at the back which looked like it was added on in the 60s.
We decided against breakfast as it seemed a little pricey at £14.95 for a full English and £9.95 for a continental breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main hotel building on High Street which is the 16th Century section of the ho...

Very authentic common area, with low ceilings and old timbers. Breakfast is a buffet and a full English cooked breakfast, which was very tasty. The rooms were nice sized, with fairly large bathrooms. The bed mattresses were average, and probably need to be replaced. There is ample free parking. Only real downside is the restaurants in the area. There were very limited places to eat, although the hotel itself is suppose to have a pretty good restaurant. In fairness, there are a couple of chain pubs, that were ok. If in the area, I would stay here again, but eat dinner before I arrived. It is a little more expensive then I would expect to pay.

This is an old building and its facilities are limited. The rooms are small, window in my room sealed with paint, very hot, noisy, you can hear everything in the attached rooms! There was a coach party staying, but my room was not ready at 7pm! Staff helpful considering the circumstances. Walking outside you are on the Main Street in Tonbridge, so access to some nice bars and restaurants. The bar in the hotel charged a ridiculous price for a pint of local bitter.

Room Tip: Visit your room before you pay, check you on not looking over the main road, if you are forget sleep...

Stayed here for 1 night as we were going to a wedding. The room size is pretty decent and the bed was huge.

The main issues were that the room hasn't been properly cleaned and there were bits of litter left lying around on the table and in the cupboard. The shower wasn't great and required me to fix it before we could use it properly.

The staff were helpful and bought an iron and ironing board up to the room for us. (The iron was terrible though)

The location for Tonbrige is great and there is free parking on site. A comfy bed and if that's all you need you'll be okay.

Very Comfortable overnight stay,
Room (105) not the best view in the world but no problem for a overnight, room itself is comfortably furnished and similarly Bathroom is clean and Spacious
Typically Best Western Hotel which means lots of stairs and corridors(may be an idea to ask staff to allocate room by ease of access if stairs are a problem,I'm sure the very helpful staff would oblige)
Did not dine in Hotel but restaraunt Menu looked appetising and varied (lots of diners in restaraunt so i took this as a good sign)
Hotel Parking is free and seems to be enough spaces for all?
Well stocked and Comfortable Bar area(very good ales)
All in All, Happy to return if the occasion arises

Room Tip: 105 very comfortable(though view is limited)
