“Superb break”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

Arrived Wednesday had an excellent lobster lunch before we went to the hut. We stayed in hut 8 which was excellent clean and warm and we wanted for nothing. The view was excellent and really peaceful. Elaine who cleans the rooms was very nice and friendly and the staff at the hotel were really helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was really good and freshly cooked and a nice walk from the huts. We ate at the Cumberland pub and the Albert but on the last evening we went to the oyster restaurant which was more than excellent. Our two dogs says that they would love to go back and stay again because the walks along the beach was very safe. Thank you.

Review of Hut 14:

The hut was really well thought out and modern - it had two double bedrooms (one smaller than the other), one bathroom with a shower, flat screen TVs in every room, microwave, kettle, toaster, clean fluffy towels and all bed linen. There were 3 of us which was fine but if there had been two couples it would have been a bit of a squeeze in my opinion.

Hut 14 is right next to the Whitstable Oyster Company restaurant and the main high street, and more importantly a 40second stumbling walk from Pearsons pub which was handy (had a delicious lunch there)! The parking space is a slight walk and we had to make two trips with our luggage.

It's about a 7 minute walk to breakfast along the harbour which was great for clearing the head. Stop off at the fish market on the way - delicious oysters you can eat there and beautiful fish / seafood to take home which was reasonably priced. Breakfast itself was very good quality. A full cooked breakfast is on offer (self service) all cooked fresh and great quality. A range of fresh fruit, toast and cereal are also on offer. Definitely worth the walk.

I thought the hut was slightly pricey for what we got but it was immaculate and definitely a different kind of experience than a hotel. It was really comfortable and cosy and we will definitely be back when the weather warms up a bit. We got caught in a storm but it was actually great to be in the hut hearing the waves and the rain. Beware that the seagulls are very loud around 7am which must be feeding time! All part of the seaside adventure though.

All in all a really enjoyable weekend and we would stay in the hut again.

Hut 14 is separate from the other huts so is quieter and situated right next to the Oyster Co restaurant. It is easier if you stop in the road quickly and drop the luggage off at the hut then park the car. Again if you want to save money look out for special deals at quiet times especially in the winter.
thanks for coming

Just come back from a Friday night stay at the Anderson shed and can thoroughly recommend it (and most certainly for the price we paid).

A great little bolt hole with two double bedrooms and big enough so that you do not feel like you are tripping over each other the whole time. Great sea view, well presented and close to a number of pubs and restraunts so you can leave the car on site (very tight parking actually).

Breakfast at the Continental is "hearty", no nonense fare. It wasnt until after we left that i saw the normal room rate for a weekend which quite honestly is, in my opinion, ridiculously extortionate and would definitely not represent good value at all. My advice is to look out for a deal and you wont be disappointed. All the huts are different and even thought they are all quite close, they are different in outlook and layout so worth taking some time to understand which hut is best for you.

Would love to come back.

I stayed in 2012 and rated our stay 3 stars as we had so many problems and the staff at the Intercontinental (who manage the huts) were dreadfully rude. There was a discount for January and as they were re-vamping the huts last time we were there, I thought we'd try again. I am so glad we did. Stayed in the Anderson again, this time is was clean and had recently been decorated. the bed was comfortable and all in all we had a great time. We even had someone call by to make sure all was well! What a difference and all for the better. I hope the standard is maintained.

Room Tip: Has 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, one double and one superking (2 singles pushed together). Walk i...

This is our third stay in the fisherman's huts, each time in a different hut. The location is fantastic and despite the cold and wind, you always feel cosy. Breakfast at the hotel is fine. The Forge is brilliant to have on your doorstep, doughnuts, oysters, beer!
The only pity was the upstairs double bed in hut two which is really uncomfortable. Lots of springs, not a lot of sleep! We'll be back again though!!

We stayed in hut 1 on the 29th Dec 2013, it was very clean, warm and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in.
Even though the room is on a bed and breakfast basis, I really liked that wine, champagne glasses were in the room and deck chairs were available (not that we needed them in December).
The breakfast is available at the Hotel Continental which is about half a mile away.
I would suggest if you are a light sleeper, take some ear plugs as it can be noisy with the boats and cars driving on the gravel paths which surround the huts.

great that you enjoyed your stay in hut 1. If you want we can always put wine or champagne in the room for your arrival. The quieter huts are probably 14,11,10 8 and 9 but the car parking may not directly be in front of the hut then.

Stayed in hut 11 between Christmas and New Year.

The hut was lovely - characterful, toasty warm, and spotlessly clean.

The huts are on the sea wall, down a quiet side street but only 1 minute's walk from pubs, restaurants, and shops

Hut 11 has a full kitchen which we used to warm up food we had bought. The kitchen is modern but there are some puzzling ommissions in the equipment. No backing trays / anything else to use in the oven. No bowls / containers to use in the microwave. And only 2 sets of cutlery for a hut that is advertised as suitable for 4. Odd.

Other than that, it was great. PIty the weather was so rubbish but we felt all warm and snug in our little hut
