This hotel seems to be on the up. It is in the middle of an extensive refurbishment, tastefully done and although we got one of the older rooms it was quite adequate for our two night stay. Waking up with a full sea view from our window more than compensated for the rather garish colour scheme (which is being replaced by an elegant dove grey and off white) and lack of wardrobe. The bed was large and comfortable and the bedroom and bathroom clean. Breakfast was good, sitting at scrubbed pine tables with the doors open onto the seafront. Whitstable itself is a great location too.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view - well worth it!

We stayed in the Continental on 24th June 2014. The cost for the night was £65 for a standard room with breakfast. The hotel was right on the sea front and a 10 minute walk away from the town. My room was big and clean. The staff were friendly, especially in the bar. The breakfast was first class.

Yes the bathroom was "tired" but It was no worse than many 4 and 5 star hotels I have stayed in. The hotel rooms are currently being renovated so you may end up in a renovated room or one that has yet to be renovated.

All in all, for £65 this hotel is good value.

Room Tip: Ask to be booked into a room that has been recently renovated.

hi
The hotel has its own trip advisor page but don't worry just glad you had a good time. All the unrefurbed rooms are at 65 pounds per night at the moment usually the new rooms are more but well worth it.

What a special time we had at the Fisherman Huts.

Designated parking space, roomy accommodation (much bigger than you'd expect), huge double bed, dog friendly, deckchairs to take out, brilliant location, delicious breakfast...

The staff were so friendly too.

It is expensive for just a couple though, however as it's such a unique experience we felt it was worth every penny - we didn't want to leave!

Thanks for coming and remember that if you want to save money at certain times of year the huts go down to as little as 85 pounds per night inc breakfast.

Just had a lovely 2 nights in hut no. 8. It was booked as a birthday surprise for my husband. In total 2 children, 1 Labrador & 2 adults.
The hut was well equipped. Kettle, toaster & microwave + plates, bowls & cutlery.{all on the first floor} which was a bit of a nuisance for filling the kettle from the downstairs bathroom. Complimentary pint of milk, bottle of water, 2 cartons of juice + tea & coffee supplied & a couple of biscuits.
We really enjoyed the stay, but don't think I could stay for much longer than 2 nights. It was very cosy.
The children {& dog} slept downstairs which was quite airless {maybe a ceiling fan would be a good idea} on the 2 single beds {dog on her own bed, I might add} and we were upstairs in the more airy part of the hut. The bed was a queensize and the views lovely. Loved the shutters on the windows, which were needed when getting dressed as anyone walking along the seawall could see straight in! Not a problem as long as you close the shutters.
2 deckchairs were provided and we made the most of the glorious weather by setting them up outside the hut along with the occupants of the other huts {all very sociable}.
Our dog was allowed in a certain areas of the restaurant for the delicious breakfast, for which we were grateful.
The hotel was a pleasant 10 min walk away.
Whitstable is a charming town with lots of independent shops.
Lots of places to eat and drink all within a few minutes walk of the hut.
The beach is dog friendly all year.
A clean behind the bathroom door wouldn't go amiss, but I appreciate its a bit of a squeeze.

Room Tip: Tight parking, we have an insignia estate. people in their deckchairs had to move while we parked th...

hi
Thanks for coming and taking the time to review us. Hut 8 is a dog friendly hut unfortunately the bigger huts are not dog friendly. If you do have a problem with parking at the huts please call reception and we can sort out alternative parking for you. I shall tell the cleaner to squeeze behind the door and give it a good clean!

We stayed for 2 nights in hut 9 which is dog friendly. We take our Jack Russell almost everywhere with us so are used to staying in dog friendly accommodation. However on this occasion we were greeted with the stench of wet dog smell and it was over powering. On closer inspection We realised that the two downstairs seats/beds covers had not been changed from the previous occupants. They and the mattress protectors under them were covered in dog hair and dirty paw prints. We contacted the hotel reception and someone came and changed the protectors and the blankets for clean ones. I bought an air freshener block as unfortunately the smell was very strong. I also bleached the toilet as the pan was brown stained but this was rectified by the bleach. We would have given a 5/5 score if these things had not been as they were because we really did enjoy our stay. The breakfast at the hotel was plentiful and good and we ate out at the Pearsons Arms one night and the Tapas restaurant the other. Whitstable is a lovely town with plenty of independent shops. We will return but feel that there needs to be greater attention to cleanliness which would make this accommodation perfect.

Hi
I am glad you enjoyed your stay but concerned that the standard of cleanliness was not up to standard and I shall look into the matter asap. Thanks for taking the time to write an otherwise positive review and hope we can welcome you back in the future.

Great location overlooking the boats and shingle beach, with a seafood hut right next door, so no long walks for dinner. Breakfast is served at the hotel, itself, and is an all you can eat buffet offering the full English.

The hut we stayed in (03) had a ground floor with twin beds, a loo/sink room and a mini-fridge and microwave, whilst up some VERY steep stairs was a double bed, sofa and a loo/sink/shower room. Both rooms had TVs. Didn't need it, but heating is provided by radiators.

I loved this place and will def be returning.

Room Tip: Sat nav may seem to be sending you down a dead end, but it's prob not...the huts really are at t...

Right on the beach and a stones throw from the pubs and restaurants. A lovely hut with great views and a spot to park your car. Decor was lovely, next time I will be back in the summer ... You can also use the facilities in the main hotel. Breakfast was really nice ... Worth a visit ...
