Excellent place to stay. Nice, clean rooms. Friendly welcome. Good breakfast, and the owner provided some really good restaurant recommendations, not just in Whitstable but also in Canterbury.

We spent a weekend at The Front Rooms in late June 2011. Just 15 minutes walk from the train station and 10 minutes from the town centre, this charming b&b is just far enough out of the town centre to feel restful, but not so far as to feel difficult.

The Front Rooms are beautifully decorated, and acheive a sumptuously comfortable and homeley feel. We stayed in Room 3, which has an ensuite - the Molton Brown toiletries added to the luxurious feel, as did the fluffy white towels.

Each morning breakfast was brought to our room, and we ate it at the tables and chairs on our balcony, with sheepskin rugs draped over our chairs. Apart from this already being a lovely way to enjoy breakfast, I must say that the food was absolutely delicious. Fresh coffee and juices, beautiful raspberries, strawberries and blueberries, yummy yogurt, gorgeous granola and beautiful bagles made this breakfast a real highlight!! We couldn't wait until the next morning!

There was nothing that I would fault about our stay at The Front Rooms, from the added extras in our fridge (chocolate, wine, fresh coffee and more) to the comfort of the beds. I would absolutely recommend coming to Whitstable and staying here to any of my friends or family.

Trust me, you'll love it.

Room Tip: Choose the en-suite, you also get the beautiful balcony thrown in which is perfect for breakfasts, a...

The Front Rooms was quite hard to find, mainly because we didn't have internet access while we were travelling so couldn't easily find Tower Parade and hadn't reaslied it was part of a parade of shops. However, our welcome from owner Tom was lovely and we felt instantly welcome, with a cuppa and biscuits in the stylish ground floor gallery. We had splashed out on the front room with balcony and en suite. It was all restfully white but not quite as luxurious or spacious as we'd expected for the price. There's a small separate loo with washbasin and a separate shower cubicle. Both lovely inside but not huge amount of space. Everywhere was spotlessly clean with lovely towels and linen although the white carpet was a bit stained - probably by muddy feet - but not ours. We thought the cycle hire was an inspired idea and the bikes, locked up outside, looks brilliant - sadly our rainy day the next day meant we couldn't take advantage of them. Tom had really good local knowlege and we ate at two of his favourite restaurants each night and they were brilliant. Samphire and the Whitstable Oyster Company. Breakfast was great, on the huge comfy sofa in the gallery, chatting with Tom and enjoying a lovely fresh fruit bowl with yoghurt, fresh toast, etc. Tom's a graphic designer from Glasgow and his design flair and plans for the gallery are really exciting. It was a short walk into Whitstable proper and only a few yards walk down the road opposite the Front Rooms and onto the beach. We loved Whitstable and the coast all around and in nicer weather would have cycled to the new Turner Gallery in Margate and to Canterbury - instead of driving. We would definately return to Whitstable but probably not to the Front Rooms because, although we enjoyed it, it was lovely and clean and Tom is a wonderful welcoming and friendly host, we felt it was rather expensive compared to other places we stayed on this holiday on the Kent and Sussex coastline, which were just as lovely but a bit more luxurious and at lower prices. Maybe though Whitstable is more expensive generally because of it's easy rail links from London. However this was a wonderful start to our holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
