My wife and I had a few hours in Whitstable, just pottering around looking at the little shops that interest us like small antiques and nick knacks etc. A nice sunny day so we took our time wandering about along the shore line / harbour and checking out the fresh fish and shellfish.
Of course, as is our habit, lunchtime came and we looked for a place to get fed and watered. We came across the Whitstable Fish Bar in the high street and after looking at a few others decided to try it out.
Well, we must have a knack of picking great places to eat because, this was one of the best fish and chips we have ever had, close to one at Rainbow's in Rye which is still unbeatable to this day.
From outside you think you are looking at a typical kebab shop from the menu's but wow what a lovely meal. The atmosphere is so nice and staff are really friendly and happy. Other people appeared to be regulars so we felt comfortable about our choice.
If you want a fancy restaurant, go and find one but, this simple café style place has food you will talk about to your friends and family, as we did.
Great value, great service, great food, what is there not to like.
Next time in Whitstable we will look forward to lunch again here.
Thanks to the lovely staff.
