“A hidden gem”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

I have been visiting here pretty much since it opened. We found it by mistake. I would certainly not call us regulars, simply because we don't visit as often as we would like to, but we have not yet been disappointed. The food is fresh and home made. There is always a great selection - you are simply spoilt for choice - ranging from homemade pies, quiches, great salads, fish cakes cake, and on and on I could go! There is a small seating area downstairs, a covered outdoors area and a further seated area upstairs, so it is bigger than you may first think. The staff are really pleasant, the kitchen open. Howard certainly has nothing to hide.

“Just tucked off the main drag - find it and you won't be disappointed!”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

I love that you can see what is on offer in the chiller cabinet - and it all looks so appetising. But there is better to come - if you think it looks good wait till you eat there. It really is a cut above the rest. The service is excellent - very personable and courteous. It's very reasonable too. So If you are looking for some great home cooked food, well presented, with good service and at an appealing price then this is your place. I live 40 miles away but make the trip - nuff said? Love it.

“Howard lets us see the Kichen!”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Just off the High Street facing the GPO, this used to be a greasy spoon, but has morphed into a more upmarket café in three parts. The front part has seating and also the kitchen area open to view. At the back the courtyard has more tables and a clear roof. Upstairs is a plain looking attic overflow area of 16 tables and the toilet. The menu is supplemented by the blackboards, and starts with standard or veggie breakfast. At lunchtime they recommend the meat pies as do I. They come with roast potatoes or mash, and two vegetables or salad. A good place for brunch and sweets are cakes kept in a cabinet, such as apple and cinnamon. , Waitress was cheerful and attentive, and they clearly are fine with young children and dogs. Not dirt cheap as this is Whitstable, but you do not feel ripped off. Unlicensed and do not accept plastic.

“Friendly cafe”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We popped in here for breakfast whilst staying nearby. I had the "half English" whilst my partner had the full English. Both looked great, and tasted great too! Good sized portions, cooked well. The sausages in particular were very tasty, obviously high quality.

The waitresses were friendly, quick and helpful (I heard several other tables request alternatives to the listed English breakfast items, all of which were accomodated). The food was well priced too and the outside seating area lovely. We'll definitely return next time we're in Whitstable.
