The location of The Bakehouse is superb, tucked away just off the high street it meant that we could reach the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants in seconds and most importantly didn't have to get a cab home! Even though it's in the middle of things it feels very secluded there and peaceful too. My only complaint was that the wifi didn't have a strong enough signal. Other than that I must say the owner Virginia bent over backwards to help me with recommendations and my partner and I had two memorable meals out, one at JoJos in Herne Bay and one at Samphire. The bakehouse has a lovely private deck and I am only sorry it was too chilly to eat outside. However, we were very happy cooking fresh scallops indoors. The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering. I liked the nautical themed soft furnishings which all felt very fresh and modern and the the bed was very comfy. All in all a perfect weekend getaway!
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend and had a lovely time. The accommodation is clean, modern, comfortable and in a great location.
Champs Bakery (which is right next to the property) is great for breakfast/lunch.
The property is right near a bus stop which goes to Canterbury or Herne Bay so we didn't use our car at a whilst away.
The host is friendly, helpful and really quick to respond to any questions.
All in all just fab, which is why I gave 5 *
My boyfriend and I booked the Bakehouse as a last minute weekend away. Before arriving, Virginia gave us clear directions, recommendations of where to go/eat in Whistable and information about checking in and out - a great host! The Bakehouse was extremely clean, well-equipped and in a great location- just a couple of minutes walk away from both the beach and the high street. Perfect for a couple's short getaway. Would definitely recommend to a friend, and might even return in the summer! (Would also recommend Samphire, a restaurant just a along the high street!)
We stayed at the Bakehouse between Christmas and NYE.
Loved the Bakehouse. Had a big , comfortable bed, two sofas to relax on and everything you'd want in a home away from home.
There is a great Wetherspoons( a sentence I never thought I'd write) opposite. We ate at Samphire, Wheelers and the Pearsons Arms. Chocolate pudding at Wheelers still has me licking my lips!
We will be back to Whitstable - and aim to stay at the Bakehouse again.
We wanted a relaxing break over Christmas and we certainly found it at the Bakehouse in Whitstable. Beautifully done out and equipped with everything you need and a nice, hot powerful shower. Whitstable is lovely and full of independent shops, cafes and nice old pubs especially The Neptune on the beach. Loved both the Bakehouse and Whitstable and will definitely be back!
The property is tucked away behind the high street and a shortish walk from the sea front. It is all one room, so a great layout if you know each other well, not so good if you want to be able to tuck yourself away on your own. There's a tiny little terrace which we sat out on in our coats drinking a cuppa because it was March but would be lovely as it got warmer. There are takeaways nearby and you are never very far from anywhere else in Whitstable. The kitchen isn't enormous but it 's perfectly adequate for a short break (and it's obvious from the photos) and, if you wanted more, really you should be looking at a different kind of property. The owner gave us good suggestions as to where to eat out and where would need pre-booking. Parking isn't of the easiest in Whitstable but sensible suggestions as to where to try for free parking where given.
Altogether this is a snug little place to stay and the owners are helpful and prompt to respond to inquiries.
