We stayed at the Marine hotel for two nights to celebrate my birthday. As everyone has said the hotel has had extensive refurbishment to a very good standard. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had room 10 which was a double with sea view for £95 per night which we thought was good value, the room was very large well appointed and had a lovely view. The breakfast was good with the usual fruit cereal and yoghurt, there was also a good choice of cooked from full English to eggs Benedict. It was a lovely walk to Whitstable town centre and each time we walked along the promenade which was much shorter than following the road, mind you you couldn't see a thing at night! (Very safe though). We ate in the town both nights, once at Prezzo, which for a chain we think is good quality and the second night in the Oxford, a very small independent restaurant which was excellent, a very small menu but superb. Also recommended was samphire which we didn't in fact try. We had a sandwich and coffee in another small independent called Waltshaws which served all fresh and local produce. That's why we like Whitstable, there are very few large chains and mainly small independents. Overall a nice hotel and a nice seaside town. One very minor point I would make about the hotel would to just ensure that you keep on top of the inevitable knocks and scrapes made by your customers, it will keep your lovely hotel looking that way.
