“lovely hotel - wonderful seaviews”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2014

We took my father in law here for his 90th birthday. We had wonderful rooms with balconies overlooking the sea. the hotel has recently been fully refurbished. the rooms are delightful with all amenities you could want. The staff are charming and the food in both the restaurant and the bar is excellent and good value for money. There is also a coffee lounge serving, in our opinion, the best coffee in whitstable.

Room Tip: Pay a bit more for a sea facing room with a balcony, especially if you go in summer - it is well wor...

It was a joy to arrive at The Marine after driving through the February storms and a long taxing day - a warm welcome at Reception; chic modern decor; a clean bright modern comfortable room with sea view and white bathroom....sadly no bath, my only quibble.

Delicious dinner in the cosy bar restaurant - I didn't feel like eating in the formal dining room but it also looked inviting - good lighting, fire blazing, charming young waiter, comfy armchairs and yummy crab linguine.

I would certainly return to the Marine.

Really glad we booked a sea-view room. Looking out the other way would have been sad! Room was great - well decorated, felt comfortable and inviting. Staff were friendly on reception even though they were very busy. Breakfast was good too.

The refurbishment of this much-loved hotel is a triumph. The colours - mostly greys and dark greens - are tasteful and stylish, and the bar area in particular is really attractive. Our room (#9 - go for it) was spacious, with balcony, and a super view out to sea. Lovely big bath with luxurious shower over it. Great big comfortable bed. Really very elegant, relaxing and romantic.
Yes, breakfast was a little slow, but the food was fresh and the coffee and tea well above average.
Some staff could be a little more smiling, and we had to wait 5 minutes before some one came to check us in. But we will return very soon - loved it.

Room Tip: Make sure you can see the sea from your room - room 9 was great!

We stayed here for a Christmas Party and It was a very good stay. At check in we were given an upgrade and had a beautiful room with a balcony. The room was spacious, clean and had everything you would expect in a room - water, still and sparkling, tea, coffee and all toiletries.

We had an enjoyable meal and the services was great. Only one little niggle, after the event ended at midnight there was no where to have a retiring drink!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 5.

Stayed here last night Sat 1 st Feb and did not want to leave , Receptionists on arrival were friendly and welcoming , offering us fresh milk for the room and papers for the morning . Our room was gorgeous , clean , fresh and spacious and the bathroom was large and spotless too . White fluffy towels , shortbreads , hot chocolate , tea , coffee , bottled water , good size tv and a super comfy bed !!! So impressed ! Breakfast was delicious I had Eggs Benedict and my partner had a Full English , you could also have cereal, fruit, continental , fresh toast and as much tea, coffee and juice as u liked. What stood out again was how lovely the staff were, my boyfriend had hurt his knee the day before and the lady in the dining room for breakfast remembered to ask him how it was , we were made to feel so welcome. This hotel is fabulous and we will definately be returning again and again :)

The hotel is newly refurbished and the bedrooms in particular are furnished to a very good standard. We had an ocean view room with a balcony for a small supplement which would certainly be worth paying that little bit more if it wasn't December, but it was still lovely to open the curtains and look out over the sea. The evening meal was just ok but breakfast was fab - all freshly cooked which does mean a little bit of a wait, but given the trend towards buffet breakfasts it was a nice change. Whitstable has/is becoming a little 'London on Sea' but its still lost none of its charm and if you like great pubs and seafood restaurants then its definitely worth a visit for a weekend break. The Hotel sits between Whitstable and Tankerton, but is only a 10-15 minute walk, which is lovely if the weather is set fair.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, there will be a supplement, but its worth it.
