“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

The decision to extend our stay in Whitstable (for a friend's birthday party on Saturday) to Friday night as well was a great move. We had walked past this hotel on previous day trips and I am so pleased that we remembered it. We had a sea view double with balcony from which we watched the world go by and witnessed nature's speculator thunderstorm on Friday evening. The bed was enormous and desperately comfortable, so much so that I had to have a siesta on Saturday afternoon something I never usually do). Breakfasts are AMAZING - freshly cooked to your own tastes. Only small niggle was returning with friends at five to midnight on Saturday after carousing in town we were refused a final night cap (rules is rules) and that was a shame. Service generally was SUPERB. Thoroughly recommended and a great base to discover Whitstable which is a lovely town full of really marvelous independent shops.

Room Tip: Go for sea view - definitely worth the extra.

I have stayed in the hotel twice now but only had an evening meal once - the food I wouldnt recommend ,its tasteless ,small potions and not value for money.
Dont go there hungry . We waited quite some time and the service wasnt good .The waiter needed to add character and pleasent ness it doesnt cost anything- he cleary wasnt happy in his work.
Rooms are spotlessly clean and if in a front room the view is amazing .
Breakfast was Ok but again food needs to be addressed as huge room for improvement

Room Tip: Ask for seafront facing. there is a lift but still a few stair to be considered if elderly.

We stayed here for a night last weekend hoping for a quiet, romantic night away by the sea.
We arrived to discover a wedding on, which we weren't told about when booking the room, or the evening meal.

Our room was nice but the communal areas had loads of random items left everywhere, (fold up beds, piles of bedding, mops and buckets etc), which made you feel like you'd come on a day when the hotel was shut.

Our evening meal was farcical, the food was pretty poor, the staff were friendly but clearly very inexperienced.
But the real downer was trying to have a romantic meal whilst listening to terrible wedding music blaring from the function room. It was laughable and to be honest the only way we got through it was to just laugh about it.

Overall pretty disappointing and we won't be heading back any time soon.

We returned following a full refurbishment of the Hotel. We paid extra for a sea view and balcony. Worth it. The room was very tastfully furnished and a good size. Our particular room only had a shower but this was a very good size and easy to operate. It was beeter than jiust a small bath which in the space available was the only option. Make your requirements clear at the time of booking. The Food was also very good and the breakfast choices improved. I particularly liked the local kippers. We chose the weekend on which a funfair was located on the green. This however did not impact as they finished just after 10pm. We also had a great view of the fireworks. The staff could not be more helpful. Sometimes the hotel does become busy with non residents but the staff always seemed to cope well. We did not use the restaurant for an evening meal so can't comment on that but the bar meals were of a good quality. All in all this is a perfect base on which to tour the area.

Room Tip: sea view is well worth the extra. the rooms are also a little bigger

Had a family meal here in late June sat outside admiring the sea view. Table top service dreadful but if you order at the bar the menu is varied and food quick to table. Perhaps a little overpriced but the food was good quality and the view worth it. Table waiting staff could do with better training in good customer service and it would be better. Interior however is very pleasant. Parking to rear but disabled access from front of building is a major issue as there are steps only so if you are on a walking frame it's a problem as it's a way to walk from front to disabled access and signage could be better.

Fabulous. I have waited 9 years for a decent hotel to open in Whitstable. This is it. Accommodation fantastic, sea view, lovely common areas restaurant, bar etc. Lovely staff and parking at the rear. Breakfast very good and just had a lovely, warm, clean and welcoming atmosphere.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a sea view rather than the car park

We booked in here for a night on our way back from Dover and were very impressed. A lovely hotel, very helpful friendly staff; we had arrived too early to check in, but they let us leave the car in the car park while we walked along the front into Whitstable to build up an appetite for lunch! We returned and really enjoyed a bar meal. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean and nice comfy bed - it was on the second floor, though, so lots of stairs up and down. Decided to eat in the bar again in the evening, excellent fish and chips. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful and service was prompt. Breakfast the next morning was excellent and seemed freshly cooked to order. Would definitely return if we were in this area again.
