“October Visit”
Reviewed 18 January 2014

Stayed here in October 2013 as we was having an evening with friends at the nearby Strawburry Duck pub and needed somewhere local to stay.We was given a room on the upper floor of the courtyard behind the main. building. The room was nice and clean, bathroom was a very good size too. No problems.
I like the quaint old fashioned style of the main buildings love old architecture etc is very old village style and if i remember right there was a water fountain or pond below our room.
Have previously stayed here in 2003 on a works function but didn't get to use the leisure facilities then as they had been a fire in that building, So was looking forward to using it this time but again didn't get to as spent most of the time out with friends and had to leave not long after breakfast (which was good) the next morning to get back home.Maybe next time?

A one night stopover , and everything was perfect. Nice room and surroundings, staff helpful, just wish we had taken some swimwear to enjoy the Spa !!. Didn't book any meals at the hotel , and unfortunately there is a distinct lack of restaurants near the hotel, so will book a meal in the hotel nexy time.

Stayed for 1 night with dinner, bed & breakfast.

Nice Spa, the hotel however, was very tired. We last visited 11 years ago and nothing had changed. It is the simple things that enhance your experience and although the staff were smiley and friendly, there was just a general lack of information and direction about the services, such as being sat at the table for breakfast and then no one telling us that the buffet was in another room completely. We had to work everything out for ourselves.
The food was very disappointing. I upgraded from the fixed price 'package' menu to a steak which was priced at nearly £20 so I expected something decent. Unfortunately, what was served was no better than a cheap pub steak worth no more than £3.99. The table next to us were being dripped on from a ceiling leak, and we just felt that we were eating in a old fashioned 1970s cafe.

There are much better hotels for the same price, so unless a refurbishment is undertaken, we won't be going again.

I came here with my brother a couple of months ago for the living social deal and it was such good value for money. £20 off a treatment and full use of all spa facilities. I was in heaven. The relaxation room before you go for your treatment was warming and therapeutic and the complementary fruit juices or teas & coffees were a well needed and appreciated touch. The spa was lovely & clean as well. Will be back again very soon. xxx

This should be a positive review. For the price that we paid and the spa area. However there is a MASSIVE but. We woke up in the morning both with very bad backs after not being able to get comfy at all during the night and hardly sleeping. Not great for a hotel eh? On further inspection BOTH legs of the bed were broken at lying at a 45 degree angle and the bed itself, how we hadn't noticed the previous day, lay at a fairly perilous angle. I immediately informed reception but no manager was available. On returning home I immediately emailed the manager with photos and have had absolutely no response. Absolutely disgusting. We paid for a relaxing night away, the first after having our little boy a year and a half ago and it was absolutely spoilt. One tip? DON'T VISIT
