“Great Short Break Holiday for families”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2011

We stayed at the Park Hall Hotel over the bank holiday weekend for 3 nights. I priced the camelot break compared to doing it individually and it seemed much cheaper to do it that way. 3 nights B&B worked out about £230 for a family of 4 and then we printed a voucher to get a discount for Camelot Theme Park, £52 for 4 of us. We also stayed in the Holiday Village which was very nice and quiet, I thought it might have been noisy in the evening especially as there was a wedding on but it wasnt. Unfortunately we were put in a 1 bedroom apartment, i did opt for the apartment for a separate bedroom to the living area which my friend had and was much better if you want to watch TV when kids have gone to bed! Reception did try and find me a 2 bedroom option and told me the only one available was probably their worst room, they wernt wrong! I cant believe they would think anyone could stay in it, it looked like a member of staff was living in it with their dog, the smell!! We stuck with the original which was nice, very clean and modern. The breakfasts were really good, great choice and nice staff, we only ate in the hotel restaurant (Sams Diner) once, which was mediocre. We also found the Carvery pub down the road which lovely, proper roast potatoes for once! We were also going to try an italian on the golf club site which again very close but unfortunately that was closed, called Figaros. We also went into Chorley and found a weatherspoons which did a great Steak deal, steak was lovely. The hotel facilities were good, especially the swimming pool, our kids age 6 and 8 wanted to go every day, small slide in there and family hot tub and separate adult hot tub which was very nice. I found all the staff in the hotel to be helpful and friendly. I thought Camelot was great for families with younger kids although there are about 5/6 rides for teenagers. The hotel itself is in a lovely location with nice grounds.

Just returned from a "Camelot trip "at this hotel which we took with our 3 grandchildren it was a first time visit for all of us. We were booked into the lodge type places at the back of the hotel which once we had found them were just right for us.The children could spend some time playing outside the room quite safely as we waited for the childrens entertainer to begin in the evening .The children enjoyed the hotel and I think it was excelant value for money as our stay inc` Camelot tickets , staff were all warm and friendly the food was good at breakfast a nice help yourself buffet style and a short drive down the road was a carvery where we had tea.It was 2 courses for £5.65 adults and cheaper for children excelant value. The evenings children entertainer was good and a Godsend to us as it kept the kids entertained till bed time .Camelot was ideal for our children as being younger it was not too tireing as a big park might be and they loved the jousting knights. All in all a good trip apart from the fact the children were upset by the accident that day on the excaliber ride at all the police and upset people that understandably went along with it. But we left the park sooner than we would and focused them on something else for a while and it was soon forgotten. We will be back again as all in all it was a super stay and thank you to all staff at Park Hall Hotel.

loved it! Took my 14 year old son. Great staff, good food, 4 hours in the gym both days. We just wanted an overnight break with a gym so Camelot theme park was a bonus. Slept 9 1/2 hours which is unheard of for me.
The gym needed updating, that's the only negative.

After reading previous reviews I was some what hesitant about staying here but I couldnt have been proved more wrong. The price of our stay for a family of four included tickets to Camelot and I must say that that was the biggest letdown, Camelot is overpriced, small and tired. We stayed in one of the chalets and it was clean modern and spacious with a bathroom to match. The beds were incredibly comfortable even my children aged 7 and 10 didnt want to get up! The only disappointments in the chalet were that the door blind didnt shut properly and the television was too small for the size of the room. Breakfast was lovely and included cereals, fruit, pastries, juices and full English. The night before we had dinner in the restaurant and the food was surprisingly filling as the portion sizes looked quite small the only criticism was the service was quite slow and had we been eating later I think the wait would have been even more so. During the summer there is childrens entertainment this was very disappointing. The grounds of the hotel are large so for the entertainer to be stuck in a small conservatory where it was standing room only and many people turned away was baffling this could have been so much better. The hotel bar was a relaxing place for a drink and the swimming pool was a welcome addition to our stay. All the staff were friendly and polite.

What you see is not what you get!
My father in law booked this thinking that he had booked our party into the hotel, little did we know that when we got there we we shoved into village chalets tucked around the back of the actual hotel, we did not even know anything about these chalets
Our chalet looked ok with a nice modern bathroom, but when it came to night time and wanting to close the blinds on the front door for some privacy you couldn't, one slat was actually snapped and you could of cut yourself on it plus they didnt actually swivel closed also a gaping big hole had been cut out the blinds so that you could open and close the door handle.
The bed was terrible! the mattress must of been so old that the metal springs were poking out, no way could I sleep on this, in fact would could sleep with metal springs poking into your whole body! I got the manager to come and look at this the following morning and he totally agreed with me that it was unacceptable, he offered us a reasonable refund.
We would never stay here again.
The price we paid was defintely not worth it, even camelot itself was not much good.
The kids enjoyed the swimming pool though!

We have just returned from our 3rd stay at park hall, we have always stayed in the chalets outside rather than the hotel itself.
We just can't reconsile how much it costs and the things wrong with the site as opposed to the convenience of the hotel for us.
The Chalets outside sleep 4 and the room is large, but one of the beds is so near the door that you can open it without even sitting up in the bed.

The TV is so small it is the size of a laptop and each of the 3 different chalets we have stayed in have problems, either the bathroom door wont close or the basin leaked or the front door wont click shut so housekeeping inadvertently leave it open all day .

On our first stay we accidently left our two coats on the bed when we checked out. we rang when we got home and yes my tatty old coat had been handed in by housekeeping, but my husbands brand new Bench coat which was lying under mine was nowhere to be found... I will leave you to draw your own conclusions from that. Reception wouldn't grasp the relevence of one coat being handed in and the other one going "missing" when they were left together ontop of each other. But it could be argued it was our fault as we were stupid enough to forget them in the first place.
Breakfast is really nice and we loved this, but Dinner is very slow indeed and portions are very small, but I found the food very nice.
Nice pool and changing rooms, although childrens times are restricted in term time (fair enough)
But the reason we will not return is on our last visit, the hotel was packed with families staying ( obvious it's school holidays) on the Saturday there was also a wedding being held there ( Well it's wedding season) but they also held a " Ladies Night" (and I so use that term loosly on the Saturday night as well), so loads of drunk women screaming at strippers and then making there way back to the chalets at 2am, waking everyone up, foul langage from them at breakfast the next day infront of a dinningroom full of children. WHY ?? Why would any hotel run something like that in the middle of the school holidays in a hotel packed with children and then allow groups of same sex parties to then stay, very few places allow that anyway and I was quite surprised a hotel would!
So we will have to find somewhere that doesn't try to cater to everyone and fail miserably, it's a shame really I will miss feeding the ducks and the lovely breakfasts

Room Tip: Make sure you stay in the hotel rather than the chalets

The booking was for a couple with a wedding anniversary along with friends, and included a tribute show with a 3 course dinner. The hotel was busy with Camelot Theme Park residents, a very large wedding party and a large attendance for the show. The hotel coped very well with it all. The food at the show was quite good for a set meal, service prompt, and drink prices reasonable, and the show good fun too.
The anniversary couple had a complimentary upgrade to a 4 poster suite.
Well worth the money
