One of my favourite places to walk. Excellent ruins at the edge of Rivington Reservoir and the start of many walks.Great for kids and adults.

Liverpool Castle was to be demolished and Lord Leverhulme decided to build a replic on the banks of Lower Rivington Reservoir just in the same condition as the original before demolition! It is a great place for children (supervised) where they can have great games etc. Also, in summer great place for picnics etc - yes a great folly and one to be experienced by families

Have visited this area on a number of occasions the last time being October 2013. Great place to walk and the remains of the castle are lovely as is the history. Great place for under control children, I say this not because I dislike children but because the walls are high and accidents could happen if allowed to run wild ! the walk around the reservoir is also beautiful as is the longer walk up to Rivington tower

Lord Leverhulme built this replica of Liverpool castle on banks of Lower Rivington Reservoir - and spectacular it is. Liverpool castle was demolished but this is a copy as it was before it was demolished- very interesting and a great view point
