“10 out of 10”
Reviewed 1 October 2011

we had lunch yesterday we had been for a drive and came across it. The setting, food service were faultless and believe me I don't say that lightly. We had the 2 course lunch for £9.95 we would of gladly paid twice that. The a la carte menu looked good and we will try that next time.

“It's good, it's buzzing, it's popular, it's just an Italian”
Reviewed 25 September 2011

I agree with all comments made. It is good but it is also a bit overpriced for simple Italian dishes. I have no problems in recommending The Villa and am happy to see it in town, but let's not get too excited it nothing special.

“A Ray of Mediterranean Sunshine in Clitheroe”
Reviewed 21 August 2011

Visited The Villa again last night, you get a friendly warm welcome off Pino and Caroline the owners. This is a buzzing place especially on a Saturday night, shame it was raining as the outside area at the back is a fantastic place to sit and chill over a glass of wine. There is plenty of seating downstairs in the bar area in what was once the cellar which is now a cosy place to peruse the menu. The food is always good and Pappa Mario's garlic bread is to die for, try the rosemary and rock salt, you could happily munch on it all night and the pizzas are awesome. Pasta, fish and steak dishes have all been excellent and there is a good choice of wines. Booking is essential especially at weekends and even during the week. From our experience of Italian restaurants this takes some beating.

“OK, but don't kid youself. It's not fantastic.”
Reviewed 9 July 2011

The good - reservation made over the phone with ease and we were seated immediately on arrival. Throughout our meal service was excellent and could not really be faulted. For a Saturday night it was actually quite impressive.

The portions were fair and food of reasonable quality, though it was far from exceptional as some would suggest. There was nothing that could not be knocked together at home by a competent teenager. Clearly, however, ingredients were well sourced.

The bad - décor slightly lazy and inoffensive. It's a paint by numbers Italian. Bill for two came to £70 for nine items including one fruit juice and a bottle of mineral water with no alcohol. For the quality it was £15 more than I felt was fair value.

I would be willing to go again but would not bother actively to recommend The Villa. It's average.

“Worth seeking this restaurant out - some exquisite food on offer”
Reviewed 27 June 2011

A bit out of the town centre but so glad we found this restaurant. Open 7 days and with plenty of parking at the side and rear, the building attempts to recreate an Italian villa. The welcome and the service throughout was pleasant and chatty and although the menu follows traditional lines some of the dishes we had were just top dollar. In particular the Tagliatelle al pecorino which had large chunks of roast lamb in a tomato and rosemary sauce and the assiette of three desserts which included the best chocolate brownie we had ever tasted! Very good selection of wines by the glass. It was an oasis on a rainy Monday evening in Clitheroe and the locals who obviously eat there regularly seemed well pleased as we were. Would mention that the toilets are one floor up from the dining room and I noticed some of the older clientele struggling a wee bit as the stairs are a little deeper than normal.
