“Tucked away, this is a great find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

In previous visits to Clitheroe I've usually gone to the Emporium, however a friend introduced us to the Coffee Exchange. From the outside it just looks like a tiny tea/coffee shop, but it's actually a tardis with 3 floors of rooms and places to sit. We chose the top floor room and I was slightly worried we would be forgotten about by the waiting staff.. but not to worry. Our waitress was attentive and came to check on us.

Great range of teas (their speciality) and drinks. The food was yummy and everything came quickly. During our (short) wait, our 2 year old was kept entertained by a box of dominoes .. others games were available.

Definitely worth seeking this place out. It is good value for money, good service and as others have written, a quirky café.

“Excellent at lunchtime”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

We were most impressed by a very decent burger at lunchtime. Efficient waiting staff, a reasonable bill and Fentimans Ginger Beer - what more could you ask for.

“Good food, poor service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

Went for a catch up with a friend. Firstly the food was very nice and so I'm not faulting that at all. The service was poor. We had two toasted sandwiches and two cold drinks. The waitress was in a huge rush to clear the plates and dashed off before we could order coffee or cake. There then followed a game of eye cat and mouse during which I tried to attract the attention of someone to order. When I did eventually catch somebody it was as if serving us was a massive inconvenience. She came to take the order and we really only had time for a cake because by that stage my friend was due back at work. The cake never arrived and it was quite obvious we would again be waiting a while as the waitress didn't get any plates out nor did she take the cakes from the display. We had to just give up on the cake in the end and went to pay. Found the service at the till much the same as in the cafe. The excuse of it being busy was offered but it really wasn't all that busy at all. Don't expect fake smiles and faux friendliness just decent timely service without a bad attitude. It gave the place a bad atmosphere which is a shame as their stock is lovely and the food is good, if the staff can be bothered to get it to you.

“welcoming and very tasty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

We visited the clitheroe coffee shop today at lunch time and despite there being 8 of us we were warmly welcomed and sat comfortably on the third floor of the beautifully quirky cafe. The food and coffee were fabulous .....staff were friendly and attentive ...would definitely recommend, we had a lovely time and will be back.

“Coffee galore - excellent and querky”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2014

Brilliant little place, grinds roasts and makes its own coffee. Has coffee from all over the world. Set over three floors, we sat up at the top floor on the big table. Four meals ordered, three ham and cheese toasties , and a chunky steak chilli con carne. Amazing. To die for. Blue mountain coffee was lovely. Meals finished, desserts up. Warm chocolate fudge cake and vanilla ice cream, pecan tart, coffee and walnut cake, and a Victoria sponge. This was the highlight of the afternoon, finished with a game of dominoes.
Not the cheapest place ever, but worth it.

P.s. mind your head
