“Poor customer service, loud music”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

This is not a hotel, it's a pub with some shabby bedrooms. The rooms are dated and the valance on our bed was stained and dirty. Our TV never worked. There was no hairdryer and when we did get one from the owner, it was so sticky I didn't want to use it!

We had to ask for the heating to be put on because the room was so cold. And then there was the noise. Every night they had a DJ downstairs so there was loud music until after midnight. Also, from a security point of view, they leave the fire escape open so guests can get to their rooms without going through the pub. This of course means anyone can come in too! Not very secure when you're in bed and you can hear people walking around the corridor, laughing and shouting.

The staff were OK but didn't really seem to know what they were doing when it came to the B&B side of things. The one plus was the breakfast was fantastic. It's just a shame there was a smell of toilets in the breakfast area.

All in all, one to miss. This place isn't cheap enough to put up with all that.

Room Tip: Don't!

My family and I visited this place last week for lunch while staying with friends, all I can say is I was very disappointed, the food was poor, and I don't think the staff knew what they where doing, and was quite rude, one member of staff was to busy playing a games machine to be bothered about us, one place I definitely will not be visiting again whilst staying in this beautiful town.

Room Tip: not sure about the rooms as we didn't stay over, but don't eat here !

Stayed there last week with the wife and some friends for a wedding. The landlords Nigel and Michelle could not have made us more welcome and looked after us brilliantly. The tasty full English breakfast was massive and you could not have eaten more. The one night we spend in the bar was most enjoyable and the atmosphere very friendly. For the money you will be very had pushed to find a better alternative in the area. We would most definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the main street.

We stayed here last weekend had a great time Michelle and Nigel couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely be back and I am sure I speak for everyone in our party. By the way breakfast was really good.

This was a last minute unplanned stay but the lady on duty was super friendly and helpful. They found us a room and place to store our bikes. The room was large, comfy and clean and good value for money.
As we arrived late there were not many eating options in town so we were allowed to order food to the hotel room and the girl came in early to give us breakfast.
A lovely, good value friendly hotel

Great Hotel. Comfy rooms. Full English Breakfast excellent! Big thank you to Nigel and Michelle for making us feel so welcome. We would definitely recommend to friends for an inexpensive way to visit the beautiful town of Clitheroe and the stunning surrounding countryside. Apparently it's only 35 minutes to Lake Windermere!

We (2 couples) came from France and stayed 10 days, rooms are nice and tidy with usual tea / coffee facilities.
Excellent English breakfasts and really good Sunday roasts.
Barstaff are all friendly and eager to help, good choix of ales at competetive prices.
Owners are both very nice and spent much time telling us what we could do or where to visit.
Would we go there again?
ASOP.
