Good size room, clean, nicely decorated. Large bathroom, some noise from ageing plumbing but didn't affect stay. Staff were without a doubt the most helpful and friendly we have had the pleasure to meet for a long time.
Once past the unfortunate entrance doors a pleasant hotel, with free parking to the rear.
Breakfast cooked to order and even my fussy requests met, fresh fruit was fabulous.
Only regret is not having been able to stay longer and test the restaraunt.

Room Tip: Our room was great but lots of stairs as on 3rd floor, not sure if there's a lift we didn't...

very nice old hotel to stay at, the rooms were a surprise in the level of renovation, they were spacious enough with great decoration and furnishings and excellent bathrooms. the staff were very friendly and helpful with lots of local knowledge and suggestions of where to go and visit. the food was first class at both dinner and breakfast.
we would stay here again for sure

We stayed a couple of nights with two elderly relatives. Our rooms were large and comfortable and the hotel is situated in a very convenient location. We ate at the hotel both nights and were very impressed by the meals, as were the other diners in the busy dining room. Breakfasts were also top notch. The owner/manager is very friendly and made us feel very welcome when we were playing cards in the dining room after eating. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to stay or just for a meal.

Myself and my daughters visited here on a Sunday for lunch and had the worst meal I have ever had. It said locally sourced food and what we received was frozen food warmed up in a watery sauce. My daughter had pasta that was undercooked in the same sauce i had with my fish. My Fish Rendezvous was so chewy and the 'fresh tuna' in it was in cubes which I am sure isn't its natural form. A friend had recommended the The Post House but she hadn't been for a while and I wonder if it has changed hands. Its a beautiful building and very clean..The Manager looked like he had just climbed out of bed and was very grumpy. At one point whilst we were eating he had a shouted conversation over our heads to a waiter at the other side of the room about the shifts they were on! The waiter and waitresses were helpful but never smiled. The hotel may be nice but really wouldn't recommend it as a place to eat. Very disappointed indeed.

Room Tip: We didn't stay in the hotel just ate in the restaurant.

We spent one night here as we were at a family wedding nearby. It's the loveliest, friendly place. The owner/Manager couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful - from taxis to umbrellas to a warm welcome. Our room was large, clean, with an iron, trouser press, and lovely organic toiletries in a spacious bathroom. The breakfast menu had an extensive selection of hot choices from full English to smoked salmon and scrambled egg, the fresh fruit was perfect (raspberries, blackberries, huge black currants, strawberries - all bought fresh from the market) and the jams were mainly home made produce. It's located centrally, with good parking behind, so the shops were steps away. We happened to be there when the Food Festival was happening so enjoyed a lively Saturday morning at the market and the high quality food stalls. Great place, great breakfast, great value!

We have just stayed at this hotel for one night because we were going to a wedding,we received a very warm welcome, the room was spotless, tea and coffee in the room, iron and ironing board, the bed was so comfy. Parking is at the rear of the hotel. If you visit have a walk round the very busy quaint high street.Breakfast was great as well.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for three nights in July 2013. Whilst my wife attended a 3 day training course I worked from the hotel room for most of our visit. The hotel owner and his team could not have been more helpful and friendly. They made us feel really welcome. The hotel is ideally located within the town. We found lots of nice walks and places to visit such as the castle. It is also a short drive to some wonderful riverside locations where you can relax by the waterside. There is free car parking at the rear of the hotel.

The breakfast is included in the room price and it is a really good spread with a cold buffet to help yourself from and a hot breakfast cooked to order. It really set us up well for the day. On the last day of our visit the owner was kind enough to let me use a table in the dining room to work after vacating my room after enjoying a late check out time.

We are already booked in again in October and are looking forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: We had a room at the rear of the hotel on the top floor. Need to go up two flights of stairs but it...
