I stayed at The Savoy the weekend before last with my 10 year old son. We wanted to go to see the Blackpool illuminations but prefer to stay somewhere quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Blackpool.
Donna the owner was extremely helpful in finding us the room which would me most suitable for our needs: I wanted a family room but they were all booked. The sister hotel about 2 doors away) had a family room available but I was unsure how my son (who has Asperger syndrome/Autism) would cope with going to a different building for breakfast. Donna suggested 2 single rooms next door to each other with a shared shower room, and explained they were the only rooms on that corridor. She assured me that if either my son or I weren't entirely happy when we arrived (for whatever reason) she would do all she could to find us an alternative either at The Savoy or elsewhere.
When we arrived we were greeted warmly by Eric (co-owner) and the check in process was hassle free. We were very pleased when we saw our rooms. Both were larger than we expected and were clean, warm, well maintained & had everything we needed including freeview televisions which worked. The location and proximity of the rooms was exactly as described.
The breakfasts at The Savoy were lovely, freshly cooked and using good ingredients. They were very happy to swap things around slightly to cater for my sons dietary needs. I did find the lady who was helping at breakfast on the Sunday morning to be a little less friendly and certainly less patient with my son (perhaps she didn't realise he has additional needs?).
Overall we had a great time and Donna and Eric were very friendly and helpful. We hope to return around the same time next year.
