I stay at the Royal Oak whenever I visit family in the Fylde coast area of Lancashire. It is an old coaching inn, owned by Robinson's Brewery, a real ale brewer from Stockport in Cheshire.
The great attraction to me is the real ale - the hotel is really a public house with a restaurant, and I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
The rooms are more than adequate, even though the WiFi doesn't work well in at least some of the bedrooms.
The very good cooked English breakfast makes the price for an overnight stay very reasonable indeed.
Parking is free, and there are lots of other places to eat and drink in Garstang - the Royal Oak is right in the centre of the lovely market town of Garstang.
I hesitated to write a Tripadvisor review because the more people that know the place the harder it will be to get in when I want to. But it is a great place to stay - and they take dogs (except in the restaurant - but you can eat in the bar areas with your dog).
