“Excellent Value For Money!”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

My Wife and I stayed for 2 nights at Crofter's, along with several other guests attending a nearby Wedding.
Bed and Breakfast, booked via LateRooms.com, was £59(Fri)+£69(Sat) = £128 for our stay, which was excellent value for money.
Our room was clean, good-sized, well-furnished and equipped, with comfortable bed. En-suite Bath/shower was full-sized with toiletries and clean towels provided.
Crofter's does appear rather "tired and dated", both inside and outside, and is in need of a TLC make-over. People should note bedrooms are upstairs, some corridors are quite narrow and there is no lift. There is no air-conditioning.....Reception/Lounge area and Dining Room were rather hot and stuffy at times. Our room had old single-glazed windows, so there was rather a lot of traffic noise from the busy A6 directly outside.
Breakfast was fairly basic with cold Continental selection, and also toast and variations of "full English" cooked to-order. Food and drink prices in the adjoining Crofter's Tavern were very reasonable.
The Staff were friendly and helpful at all times.
The Wedding was just perfect, the weather was good, and Crofter's "ticked the box" for our stay.
We enjoyed a walk around Garstang....England's first FairTrade Town, and beautiful countryside/coastal scenery is just a short drive away.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear would be quieter......check if room is double-glazed.

We stayed here for two nights. The serving staff at breakfast (good) and in the bar area were friendly and polite and the food reasonable pub food, unlike the manageress(?) when we were leaving. This person (not dressed in staff uniform and obviously in charge) asked us if we had enjoyed our stay. We replied the wedding at another venue had been very, very good, but the stay at the Crofters had spoilt the weekend. She asked why and when we pointed out the used razor left in the middle of the floor when we arrived, the non working TV, the bed side light not working (two nights) and the dusty grubbyness generally, she took a reduced payment and then walked away with the palm of her hand towards us saying "You are very rude people". She didn't seem to care about our comments at all and was obviously going to ignore them. Speaking to other guests at the Wedding, who were also staying at Crofters, other rooms seemed to be equally dusty with a distinct lack of care taken to prepare them for guests. The only reason the value rating is average is that the bill was reduced.

Room Tip: Take a duster, rubber gloves and a vac. Don't look under the bed. Rooms at the rear quite.

I am pleased to hear that the manager listened to your issues and sorted your bill for you. I have booked our staff onto the "dealing with challenging customers" course. We wish you well for the future.

The staff were friendly and polite. Appreciate it is a 3 star hotel and does not have all the frills, however, do expect the rooms to be clean. Two rooms were booked and both were not clean. One room the carpet was full of stains and the other room the carpet had not been cleaned, you could see layers of dust around the bed and edges. The hotel general areas also needed a good clean.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quieter. Hotel does have wifi, but does not get reception in most of the room...

We stayed at the crofters for 3 nights while visiting family so was in an ideal spot, we arrived after a long journey and was booked in very quickly we entered the room which was beautiful until you entered the bathroom which was not so good clean but not of the same standard as the bedroom the toilet was not very secure to the wall so moved when sat on the flush was very hard to pull the wallpaper was coming off the wall and the tiles must of been at least 30 years old. After returning later in the eve we went to bed where we were greeted by a constant knocking coming from the radiator this was constant to top it off you had to keep the window open as the room was so hot so you had the traffic noise from the main road. There was never anybody at reception to speak to you had to phone and someone would come on checking out the girl was very quite didn't even ask if we had a good stay. It says it's a 3 star which looking at the bedroom yes but the bathrooms and corridors not even the looks to the doors are old fashioned keys.

Nice and clean with good food and friendly staff. We stayed here for the first time on our way to Scotland and will certainly use again. Very reasonably priced and easy to book online. The bar served all the usual pub food to a high standard and the breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: A room at the rear of the hotel is best as the main road can be a bit noisy

The staff in this Hotel are superb.......courteous, cheerful, helpful and kind. I booked a week ahead, a room for single occupancy on a Saturday night.....room only costing more than a week night which is OK. I informed them I would be arriving around 9pm.
Obviously there is a lot going on here on a Saturday which is why I booked ahead. I needn't have bothered. I was given Room 16 and to be honest, after flying in from Girona to Leeds/Bradford and driving over to Garstang I was ready to relax. The reception staff were great and sorted me out a meal in my room.
When I saw my room I could have cried. It was tiny with a double bed shoved under the small window which had been left open and had attracted loads of moths etc in....but it opened onto a flat roof which was filthy, water logged and smelly. The room was far too hot, it was impossible to walk either side of the bed. Everything had been crammed into the space. I had to eat my meal on the dressing table at an angle.
The bathroom was the most disappointing.......Lino on the floor!!!!!! Open pipe work, tiny shower and a mirror that was so high anyone under 5ft.5 wouldn't see into it at all.
I was too tired to argue about it, but I was vey disappointed with the way we Single travellers can be treated even though we pay a supplement for rooms on top.
I have stayed there before and was given a really nice room......room 12 and was led to believe that the standard was a high.......

Room Tip: Do not accept Room 16 and check those nearby before accepting them

Beautifully set up function room , food was excellent & commented on by our guests. The staff & management were very helpful and friendly - nothing too much trouble. Our daughter had a fabulous 21st party (Sat 2/8/14) - well done to all at the Crofters Hotel we had a brilliant night.

The only thing I might suggest is a card payment machine for the function room bar, as all the young ones tend to pay for everything by card.

Would definitely recommend as a venue for a function.

Many thanks again to all
