A terrrible drive up the M6 after a long week at work and my partner and I were at our wits end. We got to the hotel late having rung beforehand to ensure that we could have a table in the restaurant and this was accommodated without question. As soon as we checked in, we both sighed with relief because the staff and the hotel are immediately welcoming and comforting. The staff did their absolute best to help us relax and the room was lovely. The shower was powerful and took away the day. The hotel decor is a little dated but this is like an old home and there is nothing wrong with that. The food in the restaurant was tasty I would recommend anything on the menu. The beds are very soft and if there is only one little quibble, I could hear somebody in another room snoring but then I am pretty sensitive to noise and it wasn't too much of a problem. The breakfast menu is extensive and you definitely wont go away hungry. When I got the bill for the weekend, they had even given me the most preferential rate they could use and that's unusual these days. Stay somewhere else at your peril.
