We booked this hotel on a friends recommendation and having never visited the area was mildly apprehensive.
Checked out the reviews which were excellent and boy did this place surpass those expectations.
Yes ok there is building work going on due to an extension but from walking in the front door I can say 100% that everyone one of the staff were so attentative to every request.Very rare nowadays .
The rooms were even better.
I have paid three/four times as much in the slh portfolio but these rooms were spacious/luxurious /spotless .
An absolute credit to the management for setting and maintaining these very high standards.
I wish you every success in the future

Selection and quality of sandwiches and cakes excellent. Staff very attentive. My only negative comment is that we had advised when making the booking that we were celebrating an 80th Birthday and I was advised that this would be acknowledged by some form Birthday wishes on the plate of the person who was celebrating her birthday. Unfortunately, this was not acknowledged and we even had to ask for the champagne that we had ordered when making the booking. Overall a very enjoyable afternoon and would recommend.

Janet,

Many thanks for taking the time to review your latest visit to Northcote, and what a way to spend an afternoon.. I can think of nothing better than whiling away a few hours enjoying time with friends whilst enjoyed Afternoon Tea.

Im so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your afternoon, but may I take this opportunity to apologise for our staff acknowledging your birthday on the day and having to ask for the Champagne. I will speak with the team to ensure that we do follow up on these points, and ensure a faultless visit.

I look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

Kind Regards

Craig

My wife treated me to an overnight gourmet stay here in January. The whole stay was wonderful. Everything from the staff, the grounds, the room, the wine and (of course) the food is perfect. We had a five-course menu with matching wines and it was the finest meal I've ever had. We will certainly be back one day!

What a way to celebrate our big O birthdays!!! My husband and myself were given a Northcote Experience as a gift from our daughter and her husband. This Experience included a 5 course gourmet meal, plus champagne and wine. We topped it up with an overnight stay. Fantastic!!!!! We were warmly greeted at reception and taken to our lovely superior room over looking the Bowland countryside. Oh dear, forgot all hairbrushes and combs. No problem for Northcote. A member of staff set off for the local town to buy them. Wow!!!!
Now changed and hair done, downstairs for our gourmet meal. We were greeted with canapés and champagne. Then into the dining room for our stunning meal. Everything was perfect.
After enjoying coffee and petit fours, back upstairs to our room for a very comfortable nights sleep. The following morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast, beautifully presented as expected.
We came to Northcote for a similar experience 20 years ago for another O birthday. Standards have not slipped. It was perfect then and was perfect this weekend. Thank you to all the staff who helped to make it so enjoyable. The building work did not affect us at all. The Hotel will be even more beautiful when it is finished.
Your staff are a credit to you Nigel. Wish we could have met you once again as we did last time. My husband, a Bolton Wanderers supporter says to ask if you enjoyed the match?!!!!!!!!!
We will return. Loved it.

Room Tip: Go for a superior room. Ours was on the first floor and was fine. Don't forget your hairbrushes...

I consider myself exceptionally lucky to have been taken to the hotel by two very kind individuals!
What a treat, this really is one of the very best - the moment that you arrive into the car park you know that this is going to be a great experience and great it was too
The staff are superb, they are friendly and knowledgable and they truly care that everything is 'just right!'
The food was amazing and such care is taken to explain all the elements of the dish being presented to you- culinary art, for me has often meant a great look but one which is lacking in taste and what should be hot food being tepid at best - not at Northcote - stunning cuisine!!
The hotel bedroom was just as good, arriving after a rushed journey and a long day, gentle classical music playing as you walked into the bedroom, beautiful bed linen and a teddy as a new friend!!! The bathroom, modern, clean and the underfloor heating fab, especially in the middle of the night!!!!...and after a good nights sleep a great breakfast.
The whole experience is a winning and wonderful combination - which very soon I will repeat with my Husband, as I feel quite mean constantly talking about this amazing hotel...Im sure he will be delighted when he finds out its his turn!

Room Tip: Room 6 - Large and comfortable and with great views!

WE have stayed many times before at Northcote and could never fault it....not this time. We booked a room and dinner for 8 for 8.30 we arrived down for dinner just gone 8 and were seated and served champagne, we then waited for over 30 mins until we received canapés, which the bar lady apologised for as there had a been a mix up. We finished canapés then a long time after receive menus, and were not asked until around 8.45 if we were ok with the menu, wine etc.
just gone 9 we mentioned to the lady serving on the bar that we were supposed to be eating at 8.30 and she went off and came back and said our food order had only just gone through, we explained we had been down since 8 and it wasn't really our problem that nobody had taken our requirements. She said that you were busy with many 2's......as you would expect a valentines.
We have been many times before and had fantatic experience, its not always down to the food it the whole package that makes for a great experience. It just seems to of lost the personal approach we are used too, nobody seemed to know what the other was doing. Its not my usual approach to put something on this type of website, I did send a mail via linked in to Craig Bancroft who has yet to respond. Also note its currently a building site with the expansion of the hotel and facilities. 8am diggers being moved around etc Try Le Manoir similar money and a fantastic experience...
