“Comfortable luxury”
Reviewed 21 February 2011

My husband treated me to the one night gourmet break as a christmas present. We had driven past the hotel on many occasions and I always said that I would like to stay there as we had heard various reviews about it and regularly visit the Three Fishes at Mitton which is also run by Craig and Nigel. We were not to be disappointed. The staff, the rooms the food were all to a very high standard. We had a garden room with patio doors opening onto a small veranda, unfortunately the weather wasn't too kind to us but it would be ideal in summer. We had the five course taster meal in the evening, if you are expecting large portions on your plate then you will be disappointed, it is what it says, a 'taster' but there is enough to fill even the hartiest of appetities. Nothing was too much trouble and the waiter even asked Lisa to sign one of the menues for us. Breakfast the following morning was delicious and full of locally sourced food. I can't wait to go back

We visited Northcote manor on one of their Obsession evening's just recently it was superb! The whole evening from start to finish was a credit to Northcote and its team, not forgetting the amazingly talented visiting chef Martin Wishart and the excellent team of chef's at Northcote Once again fabulous it will certainly be a date for our diary to visit again soon.

I have often wondered what happens to those review cards we are often requested to complete after a hotel or restaurant visit. I always thought perhaps they got thrown in the bin! This is definitely not the case with The Northcote. I have received a personal letter thanking me for my comments following our stay there recently.

The staff are so friendly and helpful, lovely decor throughout and a very welcoming feeling about the place. As for the food and dining experience - absolutely first class :o)

We booked a one-night stay at Northcote for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was featuring a set dinner menu package with optional wine pairings for each course, which we gladly booked when we booked the room. From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable. We were shown to our large, lavish room within seconds of walking through the front door. Though the dinner was completely booked, the staff expertly seated and served all parties in a professional, timely manner. The chef and partner, Nigel Haworth, greeted each party before they were sat; the wait staff named and described each wine and food course as they were served. I cannot rave enough about the food - who knew that mutton could be THAT good? There was not a crumb left at our table. The wine was superbly paired with each course. It was quite possibly the best restaurant meal and best hotel service we've had in England.

We stayed two nights in November 2010 as part of my girlfriend's birthday celebrations. It was the third time we have stayed and it was as enjoyable as ever. Wonderful food, perfectly matched wine and friendly, attentive staff. I only wish we could come here more often. Thank you Northcote.

Having visited Northcote for an overnight Gourment stay. I can honestly say, that having been lucky enough to have stayed in some wonderful hotels around the world, this particular hotel ticked all the boxes and then some. Every last detail has been thought of even down to a little bottle of milk in the bedroom fridge, the Molton Brown accessories in the bathroom and the wonderfully comfortable beds. The food, as you would imagine, is out of this world and the staff are a delight. I have read that a lot of thought has gone into the creating of this hotel and it shows in so many little ways. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed for one night to celebrate my birthday. We'd stayed previously and loved it and again we were not disappointed.

The hotel is basically a restaurant with rooms. There are only 14 rooms, on both occasions, both rooms which we've had are luxurious with molton brown toiletries, complementary fruit juices, etc.

The food is fabulous, my partner and I are vegetarians and at Northcote there is a whole designated gourmet or tasting menu available. The staff and service is faultless, not stuffy, or snobby, just attentive.

Breakfasts are leisurely and service and food faultless.

I can't wait to go back again! Highly recommended.
