We came upon this tea room and lunch place quite by accident. A local woman suggested that we visit Staunton Harold and we got there just about lunch time and hungry. The Staunton Stable Tea Room is centered in the Ferrers Centre which is an artists' colony in the former stables of the Staunton Harold estate.
We ordered the roast beef lunch and were rewarded with the best roast beef we've encountered in England. The meat was moist and fork tender. It came with mash and veg as well as a small Yorkshire pudding, accompanied by warm brown gravy. The best lunch on a cold and rainy day.
You order at the counter, select your table and your food will be brought to you. You can also order the usual tea room fare as well as scrumptious looking pastries, pies, and cookies.
The centre itself is worth visiting, especially if you stop at the Staunton Stables Tea Room.
