“Give them a go”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

So many times you go to a place that tries too hard to be what it's not and end up being disappointed.., yet this place is not what it portrays to be...
We stayed overnight here this weekend and from the start we were welcomed as if we could have been friends. The room was big, bright and airy, with a very comfortable faux leather bed, the bathroom had a bath that could of easily fit 2 with a rain shower overhead and the whole place was very clean. A good nights rest was had by both of us
We chose to eat in (good choice) and was lead to the restaurant part of the building, this was a lovely area, a mixture of farmhouse kitchen and villa with homely touches, the waitress was tentative but not always there watching (a good thing in our view) and the chef who is not a chef but is a nice man to talk to, will cook you a damn good meal and a tasty breakfast to order in the morning.
The Crown Inn is not just your run of the mill country pub with a few rooms to sleep in, it's the lovely home and work place of a couple who try very hard to give you what you want without being pretentious or overbearing.
As the title of this says... give them a go, have a quality meal in the restaurant that wont break the bank, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Would we stay again, yes we will and I bet you will too.

Room Tip: Eat in the restaurant

Chris and Paula agreed to let our cross-country running group use the car park whilst the group ran around the area. Consequently we tried their beer, and their food, and experienced their easy-going manner and wonderful hospitality. It was like staying with good friends. They present a relaxed, warm, patient and welcoming environment in a great pub. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they displayed a personal touch which was very pleasant, very much appreciated, and too often overlooked or missing in similar establishments. Lunch was served in a lovely contemporary dining room. My only regrets are that we didn't give them more custom (ie more customers) and that we couldn't stay longer. Next time we'll correct both these oversights. Can't comment on the accommodation, or breakfast, but I'm confident both would be splendid!

Had the pleasure of stopping here earlier this month for an overnight stay with my wife. Lovely family who own this place. Nothing any trouble and very friendly. Well kept hand pulled beers in the bar. We ate in the restaurant on the night and had a starter and main course each. Could not fault it, lovely. Spent all evening in the Bar. the locals were also very friendly and made you feel at home. Overnight sleep was very comfy in the King size Bed. breakfast the following morning was also excellent. We would not hesitate to recommend this place and wished we had stopped another night. Highly Recommended!

We found this place as a stop over during a long journey. It's a lovely part of the world even though it was raining hard. The room was large a pleasantly decorated. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the large bathroom had a good make over. The water was lovely and hot. Mine hosts were friendly and helpful. Not often they offer to bring your bags in for you. The pub is small and cosy. The locals are very friendly. It was curry night and the landlord is the chef and we had freshly made chicken and beef curry. Very good value for £6.50 each. Breakfast next morning was in the modern dining room. It used to be an up market bistro at one time. Once again a good meal. Well cooked, not greasy and a full plate. We would recommend a stay here. It's out if the way but in lovely countryside.

Room Tip: Ask about noise levels at night.

We booked this hotel for a two night stay to visit the shire horse annual show and were very pleased with the welcome, standard of rooms and overall value for money. The food is simple but cooked and presented to a very good standard. We would certainly stay here again and probably will have a longer break next time.
