“Afternoon Tea in The Orangery”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2012

Kilworth House is a magnificent property. We decided to book an afternoon tea in The Orangery, which is delightful. Unfortunately it was raining very heavily that day, and there were a few buckets dotted about to catch the leaks. The afternoon tea was great though, lovely sandwiches, cakes and scones, preserve and clotted cream. We wanted to have a walk around the grounds, but the poor weather put paid to that. I would love a return visit though, and would recommend the afternoon tea there for a treat or special occasion.

Just spent 24 hours at Kilworth House - It looks like fairyland with the hoar frost on all the trees.
Lovely warm and welcoming hotel, Evening Meal and Christmas Treats entertainment excellent.
Will definately book again for next year.

I have been to Kilworth House several times, and each is an experience in itself. The settings in the countryside, the surroundings, and the food. Please give it a try, I'm sure you will make a point of a second and subsequent visits!

Was upgraded to Keats room which was beautiful. Did arrive early was told to come back in 60mins which gave us time to have a walk around the hotel grounds which was nice. On our return was told to wait another 30mins as room was still not ready again wasn't an issue.
House was decorated for Christmas and was done with great taste.
Had evening meal which was as expected although I thought was not to the quality of the hotel. Breakfast was the only disappointment as was kept waiting with another couple for nearly 10 minutes to be sitted and although the 'help yourself food (i.e. fruit , bread, pastries etc) was good the actual cooked was poor. I had a half burnt sausage and the mushrooms were dried out. We also had to ask for toast which arrived sometime later.
I will say bar the breakfast the staff were very friendly and the hotel had a lovely feel so would recommend it for a special occasion .

Myself and a group of ladies from our local WI visited Kilworth House yesterday for Afternoon Tea, we particularly wanted to see the fantastic Christmas decorations which adorn this beautiful House (we tried to get a table last December but it was fully booked) and had been looking forward to our day out for a long time. The House is spectacular, from the moment you approach the entrance and see the magnificent Christmas Tree decorated in red ribbons the festive feel begins. Christmas trees of all sizes are everywhere and the huge red tree at the foot of the elegant staircase is a true sight to be seen. The fireplaces are richly dressed in bright garlands, just waiting for a Christmas stocking to be filled on Christmas Day. Our tea was served in The Orangery which again was beautifully decorated and certainly had the 'wow' factor. We had booked the Champagne Tea....well it is nearly Christmas! The tea itself consisted of a plate of savoury open sandwiches, these were small rounds of ciabatta or other breads with a topping of either turkey, egg, salmon or brie. The middle plate held fruit and plain scones, these were warm and served with jams and clotted cream and were delightful. The top plate held a variety of small cakes which included fruit slice, fruit tart, panettone and chocolate eclair, we were also served pots of tea of our choice. We all felt a little disappointed at the end of our feast, we would have liked more savoury options and perhaps not as many sweet treats. Although the scones were devine the other cakes were dry and not very special although we were given the option to take home any that wasn't eaten. Also there was no atmosphere, it would have been lovely to hear some Christmas Carols or light music maybe, come on Kilworth, you have made such a big effort with your festive decorations dont let yourself down on the little things. All in all our afternoon at Kilworth House was a delight but much more so because of the beautiful array of Christmas Decorations rather than the Tea itself, we wont be hurrying to come back for the Tea I'm afraid, maybe we will try lunch next time. Afternoon Tea with Champagne is £28 per person.

Having visited Kilworth Theatre in the past, we were quite interested in staying over New Year, but we left it too late to book. So we decided on lunch before we book for next Xmas/New Year.

We found the meal first class, the service was faultless, attentive without being intrusive, the Orangery is the most beautiful surroundings, especially with the Christmas decorations, I actually began to feel rather festive. All in all, we received excellent value for money, were made to feel very welcome, and we will definitely be back very soon.

I would recommend Kilworth House without reservation, and totally understand why this is so sort after as a wedding setting.

Stayed for one night when our friends got married at Kilworth House, lovely building and grounds and the room we stayed in whilst very reasonably priced was very nice indeed (shower could have been a bit more powerful but no real problem). The wedding was coordinated between two rooms in the hotel which were close together and very cosy, the service went without a hitch (except for the couple getting hitched that is) and meal was good. The level of service overall was excellent, attentive without being in you face and what with the hotel's very close proximity to the motorway we will certainly be using again and recommending it to friends.
