This hotel is gorgeous apart from the food. The rooms are lovely and the theatre is really good but when it comes to the food they really need to sort it. We've been several times for the theatre and three times at Christmas and we've never had good food. Apart from it being minimal it's not that good. Such a shame for a lovely hotel.

What can I say? Sadly I have only just heard about this fabulous place from a friend so can only rate a picnic and South Pacific so far. However, on phoning the venue to ask how it all works I was extremely impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of Sue James who answered my call and talked me through it. As a former event manager I wanted to see round the hotel itself and was completely blown away by the Victorian orangery. Never seen anything quite like that before. Lots of lucky people seemed to be enjoying a fabulous pre-theatre dinner in there. We had a picnic then a coffee in the lounge and that was excellent too. As for the show and the setting - there are not enough superlatives. Excellent production with top quality cast and orchestra, who thankfully came out of their little woodland hut to take a bow! The magical setting in the woods made you feel you were on a South Pacific island with the cast. From what I have seen so far the entire hotel, the grounds, buildings and gardens seem to be extremely well thought out, very well run and of top quality. We will definitely be back to discover more and have a meal in that fabulous Orangery. Thanks for a great evening.

I took my mother and wife for lunch and the afternoon performance of South Pacific.
As it was a present for my mother they kindly sent the tickets with note saying what she was getting, all nicely presented which I thought was a nice touch.
We all loved it, it was a well run slick operation.
The food was very nice with a reasonable choice for a set menu. We had a great table in the Orangery and we're served by friendly attentive staff.
The performance we thought might be a bit am dramish, but how wrong we were. It was West End quality.
Will certainly go again

Stayed a this fabulous hotel last night for a special reunion celebration. We couldn't have been anywhere better. The hotel is in beautiful grounds which are well cared for. The building is stunning & the rooms well decorated & furnished. We enjoyed a good meal in the orangery before going to the outdoor canopied theatre to watch a superb production of South Pacific given by a very talented cast. Without exception the staff were excellent , they were all smart & cheerful & very welcoming. Breakfast this morning was first class. I would happily move in this hotel & live my life in sublime contentment. Thank you

Room Tip: Ground floor ideal for those with limited mobility & ours had a disabled access shower.

Bought my husband a theatre package for Xmas. The hotel interior is lovely, especially the Orangery, it's has been beautifully refurbished. The bedroom was clean, comfortable and well furnished with a lovely view. The service was excellent throughout. South Pacific is an excellent show, we really enjoyed it. It was our first visit and we were very impressed with the theatre. The only criticism is the pre-theatre dinner. It was "nice", but not up to the standard of everything else. It was ok but quite ordinary, pub meal standard. We will be back but may bring a picnic next time.

Room Tip: We had a garden room and it was beautiful

we stayed at this beautiful hotel for our nephews and his lovely bride wedding.the setting is breathtaking looking out over .the wonderful countryside.the rooms were lovely , spotlessly clean and very luxurious.very comfy beds and the bathroom was well stocked with clarins products. The staff were very helpful and polite. The breakfast was really good with loads to choose from, I really didn't want to check out and leave!!! The quality of the food for the wedding was very good and fantastic service, all in all I would return to this lovely place and I would highly recommend it for a wedding venue

My husband and I were going to see South Pacific which was fabulous, one of the best shows we have seen there. We decided to have a pre theatre dinner last Sunday. The setting is beautiful but what a very poor menu choice. I ordered the supreme of chicken with tarragon rice and a sweet and sour sauce. The chicken was over cooked, the rice was good but the sauce tasted the same as one you would open from an Uncle Bens jar.
The meal represented very poor value for money. My husband was hungry so he asked for another roll which cost us an extra £1 plus 25p for a knob of butter.
The service however was good.

Dear Rita T
Thank you for your review following your visit for Pre-Theatre dinner. I would like to assure you that the sauce which accompanies the chicken dish is made freshly in house and following your feedback directly on Sunday evening we are now offering additional sauce to guests chosing this dish. We service check every table throughout the meal which enables us to immediately react to any comment as we did with you on Sunday.

I have checked your bill and can confirm that your were not charged for a breadroll as stated. The £2.50 charge relates to tea which you ordered in the Hotel in preparation for the interval of the show. It is highlighted on your bill with a prefix in brackets (T) which identifies a Theatre item.

Thank you again for your comments
