We visited Kilworth for the third time travelling from North Wales to experience this wonderful setting in the heart of the countryside .We stayed with friends who live quiet near so only did the pre show meal in the Orangery The party of six thought that the meal and service was first class .the head waiter welcomed us to the restaurant and recognised us from our previous visit as we had chatted to him on our visit to Antalya Turkey, his home City.
The show SOUTH PACIFIC was fantastically performed on an open air stage but covered to keep out the elements. At the end there was a standing ovation for a wonderful performance.
Well worth the long journey we will certainly return .

Just spent very good Sat night here for a large (11 of us) family celebration including seeing South Pacific at the on site theatre. Plus points - rooms excellently and thoughtfully appointed - high quality fitments all working, vg bathrooms. Public rooms spacious and attractive if you like traditional country house style. Whole place is very well maintained - no shabbiness at all. Gardens and location also great with good views from a well positioned, large patio area where you can have drinks, coffees etc. Staff were universally very helpful and cheerful if mostly very young. Breakfast pretty good with requested variations to the menu handled accurately and with a smile.
Minus points - very few really - pre theatre dinner was somewhat institutional, mass catering in style - acceptable food if rather bland - this is not a gastronomic destination hotel - very busy and pretty well handled getting a lot of covers through in time for the show. The orangerie tends to get very hot, the only option being to open the doors or have a small electric fan nearby.
For those going for the show - all this side was excellently organised in a really lovely location, fully covered (it rained but no problems).
They do a lot of weddings so there are better places for a quiet relaxing weekend but for our purposes and with the theatre as well I'd recommend the hotel wholeheartedly.

We booked in for pre show lunch. Food was extremely bland and disappointing. The chef appeared to forget any seasoning.
Service was good and surroundings wonderful.
The show was outstanding and I would recommend seeing it

Our third stay at this hotel to meet friends and attend the outdoor theatre. Hotel is very comfortable and relaxing with large, quiet, well-equipped rooms. The outdoor theatre makes for a good evening (if sometimes chilly so be prepared) with enthusiastic performances and enjoyable music.

Regular weekend every year for dinner B&B and a musical in the open air theatre. Atmosphere, ambience, room, attention to detail fantastic. Food a let down. Everyone left their potatoes at dinner. Breakfast black pudding uncooked and bacon inedible and watery/greasy. Not mentioned at time (English reserve in company). A let down for a hotel priding itself on attention to detail.

We treated ourselves to dinner and a Friday night show of South Pacific for our 10th wedding anniversary, which was mostly paid for by our daughter who had bought us vouchers last christmas. She had been told that the amount she bought would comfortably cover dinner and a show, but, the operator apparently didn't know that prices would rise a month later??
We added to it to be able to do this evening treat.
We have been to Kilworth before for shows snd as usual it was a well polished production, but we'd never eaten there. The pre theatre meal in the Orangery looked good according to the menu I downloaded in the morning, but when we were seated we discovered the menu we were looking at bore no resemblance to the downloaded one. Starters looked ok and after being told soup of the day was leek and potato that's what we both went for, only to be told by a maitre'd (2 mins later) that it was actually celery, apple & water which didn't sound particularly appetising, so I had Tappealingkerel Fishcake and the wife the salmon. We were both pleasantly surprised by how good they were. Main course was Pork Schnitzel for me, superb. Supreme Chicken for the wife, again, excellent. Puddings were a massive disappointment. All 4 puddings were fruit based!!!! The wife had the cherry pie which she said was ok but the pastry very hard. I declined pudding as I, personally, can think of nothing less appealing for a pudding and for a restaurant to offer such little variance was disappointing. I did point this out to the waitress who apologised, but said there was nothing she could do about it. The maitre'd who informed us of the soup change suddenly appeared and told me I could suddenly have a choice of ice creams!!! I asked for chocolate and a minute later, a waitress appeared and apologised again as there was no chocolate ice cream!! At this point I gave up on pudding. We were provided with extra petit fours with our coffee which was a nice gesture, but not pudding I'm afraid. Overall a good night out, but they could do better.

Stayed here for 3 nights for work how lucky am I! Lovely hotel and rooms and all the staff very friendly. we were entertaining guests as well during the period who all said they would go back. Rooms were excellent with Clarines products in the rooms and even a Beeny cow on turn down service! Bed very comfy and pillows lovely and soft! Could not make the Aircon work but probably driver error did mention the iron did not work on day 1 and it still did not work by day 3 but that was the only problem. Drinks on the large terrrace overlooking fields was fantastic and a real peaceful setting. Would definatley go back and pay to go myself! Food was ok but served to a large group some steaks were not cooked at all well and meat was tough but that was the only fault.
