Dear KevLeicester,

Thank you for taking the time to review The Star Inn.
Many of our guests comment on what a lovely village pub we are and we are so pleased you enjoy our high service standards and quality of our food.

You have commented on the price of our highest priced menu option Fillet Steak, this is as a result of market price and it is only available from our A la Carte menu selection from Wednesday to Saturday, we appreciate that it’s not something for everyone, many restaurants do not offer it these days due to cost, it’s on the menu as it has been specifically requested by some customers.

However we do offer other great quality and very competitively priced steaks on our Classics Menu these are available from Monday to Saturday, also you may want to take advantage of our Steak Night every Wednesday where we offer two great steaks for only £24.00

To give you some other examples of great steaks on offer at the Star Inn, our 8oz Prime Centre Cut Derbyshire Steak is only £16.95, this steak is also offered as Surf & Turf option for £18.95 we also have a 21 Day aged 8oz RibEye for £21.50.

As well as our regular Wednesday Steak night we also have other Specials Nights - Monday Pie Night £6.95, Tuesday Fish & Chip Night £9.95 our prices are certainly not in the Ivy league as they are very competitive and clearly displayed.

The Star Inn is a fresh produce restaurant where everything is individually cooked for each customer and offers great value, our new Classics Menu has recently been extended and our ‘A la Carte’ selection changes on a regular basis, so we will take on your feedback when its next reviewed.

We hope to see you again very soon.

Kind regards,
Nicole Richardson

This restaurant has gone from a very good/exceptional place to a very noisy and what is becoming a rather overrated and expensive place to eat.
This time we were seated close to the bar and what was supposed to be a romantic meal turned into an occasion where we were almost shouting to make our selves heard.
The food is definitely reducing in quality as the restaurant gets more popular and busier.
This used to be one of our favourite eateries but will be giving it a miss in the future.

Dear Huff,

Thank you for your feedback, however we were a bit surprised to discover you dined with us in February over 4months before you decided to comment.

As you know the Star Inn is a Restaurant and a Bar, you didn’t say if you had booked or for which evening, our Restaurant tables get booked up first so assume that you dined in the Bar on a busy night, I agree it’s not the place for a romantic meal but some customers prefer it and we always check if it’s ok with the customer.

Our food is always fresh and regarded by most as exceptional quality and value, eg Tuesday fresh Fish and Chips with all the trimmings for £9.95 on Wednesday nights £24.00 for ‘two’ great Steaks, A la Carte selection is available from Wednesday to Saturday.

We do hope to see you again very soon but would recommend making a reservation in advance for quieter tables which are normally available if requested.

Kind Regards
Nicole Richardson

Had a few issues re the booking on our first visit but no problem this time around. This was a birthday party meal with family and we were seated in the Green room again, which is excellent for a group upto 12 people. The food was to the high standard of our previous visit. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal but the only downside was the time taken between ordering drinks and finally receiving them - over 15 minutes on one occasion. Otherwise it was top notch and it will not be too long before we go back again.

Dear Davericho52,

Thank you for your review

I am sorry that there was a booking error on your first visit and that there was a wait for your drinks. This has been discussed with the staff and we are working together to ensure this doesn't happen again.

We are pleased that the food was enjoyed by all and that you will be visiting us again soon. We all look forward to seeing you!

Best regards,
Nicole Richardson

Another excellent meal - good value 2 steaks for £24...and the rump steak was really good. Excellent big portions - my prawn cocktail starter was huge - and very good quality ingredients.
The chef certainly knows what he is doing and where to access the best quality meat and fish.
Service was pleasant and friendly but could have been a little faster and more attentive at times.
The whole place is very well decorated and has a great ambience.

Hi Daisysalt,

Thanks for reviewing your dining experience at The Star

We're pleased that you enjoyed our Special 'Steak Night' offer and that you were pleased with the portion sizes and freshness.
As all of our dishes are made from fresh service can sometimes can be a little slower though we always want to be attentive so this is being addressed with the staff.

We look forward to seeing you again very soon -maybe for 'Monday Pie Night' or 'Tuesday Fish & Chip Night'!

Kind regards,
Nicole Richardson

We returned to the Star Inn once again for two delicious meals on the most recent of our twice-annual buying trips to England. We have observed vast changes at The Star over the 20 years we have been visiting Thrussington. The staff members are very helpful and we can truly say it is a joy to to have a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord with such delicious food here in the stunning atmosphere of this welcoming and stylish pub/restaurant. We went for the "fish and chips" night (Tuesday), and returned on Thursday for the Chef's specials and a la carte menu. The olives and warm breads brought to the table after dinner is ordered are a welcome beginning, the starter of beef carpaccio with greens and dressing was very tasty. We each ordered the pork belly on mustard mash with prawns and madeira reduction, and it is one of the most delicious and beautifully served dishes on offer there. The hazelnut meringue was wonderful (we shared), and enjoying it all with a pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord is just perfect! We will be back in October--see you then!
