“Very generic, but good quality”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2012

We spent our wedding night here after getting married at Newstead Priory. We booked after checking it out during Pines' annual wedding fare (recommended: free glass of bubbly for having a look at the rooms). The bathroom was a high standard, with one of the biggest baths I've seen and the room was well-equipped with a lovely four-poster bed. We had drinks in the bar in the morning after room-service breakfast: good service throughout and the breakfast came with lots of extras like pastries. There's a great gym (which I checked out on a separate visit; no workouts the day after my wedding day for me!) and the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are lovely. There are also heated loungers round the pool which are super relaxing.

It's a good hotel with good quality facilities throughout, but it's too much of a generic, business/conference oriented place to feel particularly special.

Four of us went for a spa day courtesy of a leading deal company. We had an amazing day. The facilities are excellent and the therapists who carried out our treatments were great. The lunch in the Pines bar was however very expensive and took an age to come to our table. The waitress was quite stern so when we return to the spa we may not eat there again.

Very clean good rooms. Brilliant golf course. Very slow service in the lounge bar, they could do with a few more staff. Managers seemed very above themselves, getting on at staff who were doing the best they could. Prices were about the same as other similar hotels. I would stay again but it would be nice if service was a lot quicker. Golf course staff and marshals were very helpful and pleasant.

Check in was quick and efficient though a smile from the receptionist would have made the process more welcoming. I was impressed that the room was ready for us even though it was only just after noon.

The room was quite large, nicely furnished in contemporary style with Sony flat screen TV. Well-lit, modern bathroom with thermostatic shower over the bath and a curved shower curtain - still something of a rarity in the UK.

We were staying for a wedding at the hotel and I must also add that the food and service at the function were excellent, well up to quality restaurant standard, even though they were catering for around 80 guests.

The hotel was good overall but the breakfast was outstanding. There was a wide choice of food, hot and cold, served buffet style. However it was the staff that made the breakfast exceptional. Despite being extremely busy on a bank holiday when all the guests seemed to choose 9.00am to eat, the staff were both efficient and friendly and their smiles more than made up for the one that was missing on check–in. The lady cooking eggs had a really good rapport with guests that eased the brief wait in line for the cooked food.

A really good stay and, I must say, a bit of a surprising “find” in North Lincolnshire!

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor may have some noise from people passing to/from function areas, so higher...

We stayed at the hotel for three nights. The room was average, bathroom a little tired. There were numerous prom nights on during our stay and as our room was quite warm we needed to borrow a fan as to have the windows open was too noisy. Beds comfortable. The food at breakfast was very good with a great choice. The service on arrival at the breakfast room was excellent and very friendly. The other meals were a little too expensive for us so we ate out each night. The golf was £60 a round and £40 a round for residents. However I found the same thing with a bookable tee time online for only £17.50 which does not make much sense but I checked it with the pro shop and they confirmed this was correct. It would be nice if this could be looked at as we would have played there if it had been cheaper. The pool area looked nice shame the jacuzzi was out of order. Would consider going back.

Room Tip: Ask for one with air conditioning as car park facing rooms do not have this and can be noisy at nigh...

Dear CambridgeAnnie
Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your recent stay with us here at Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort. I was pleased to read that overall the shortfalls you experienced would not deter you from returning in the future. Your observations regarding the price of golf is most appreciated as it highlights some corrective coaching for our team. We do offer some fantastic reduced rates at times for our award winning Golf Course and these should have been made available to you on this occasion.
Once again thank you for your feedback and hope you will be able to return in the near future.

Our second short break at this hotel and was not disappointed on our return. The rooms are nice, the leisure club is nice with very friendly clientele, and the food is excellent. Only minor complaint is the standard of coffee at breakfast which is "mass produced" and poor...otherwise both breakfasts and dinners were great. Drinks are pricey, especially wine, but it is a good 4 star hotel so only to be expected. We will definitely return again

We stayed for 2 nights and have no complaints! Particular mention goes to Danielle, the receptionist, who was lovely and very helpful. We had booked on a package and there was only twin rooms left, but on arrival she upgraded us straight away to a superior double room and ensured everything was sorted out. She was also a useful source of local information and spent time finding post codes for our sat nav and recommending local restaurants. (There's no way we were going to pay £14.95 for a burger and £15.95 for fish and chips in the hotel restaurant when there were such nice local places to investigate!). Also Ken, the breakfast waiter, was such a nice person to be greeted by first thing in the morning! What a polite, cheerful and delightful man - loved him!
