Owner description: Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway is a fantastic way to see the resort of Cleethorpes. Steam and diesel locomotives on the 15" gauge track take visitors on a two-mile journey along the seafront, stopping at three stations. But the attraction is much more than a railway. It includes a tea room, The Signal Box Inn - reputed to be the world's smallest pub - a gift shop, locomotive sheds and workshops.

On arrival at Cleethorpes we stumbled on this train and decided to have a ride. It is a miniature railway and is pulled by steam trains, of which there are two running. The whole track is only a couple of miles in length but there are 3 stops. At the Lakeside Station there is a nice tearoom and museum which gives some interesting background into the light railway phenomenon; this is apparently the last to survive. We did not get off at the Humberston station as there appeared to be little there and it seemed rather far from Pleasure Island. At £12 for a family of 4 it wasn't over expensive and it is presumably expensive to maintain. One of the highlights of our visit to Cleethorpes.

Ok I'm Grimsby born and bred living in Caterham Surrey for last 20 years who broke his shoulder prior to family holiday unable to fly, came back to family roots to convalese for 2 weeks.
Wow ..Cleethorpes to me has not changed it's still as i remembered it I did plenty of walking in cleethorpes to remain active, so glad i did i found this gem still up and running a must for a young family to do in Cleethorpes BUT for me that really made it was discovering "Smallest Pub on the Planet!" superbly located during my walks and an excellent pitstop for a pint never the same beer.Coming back up North to "Cleggies" was refreshing where people speak to you in passing as you walk the dog, engaged in conversation with locals who you never met before.
You can smell the steam engines in the back ground too good old fashioned nostalgia to look at well worth the visit for a family with young children.. Me quite happy to sit and put the world to right in the sunshine with a pint well done Cleethorpes

The Cleethorpes Light Railway is a really good attraction, particularly for young children. It is run very efficiently and the attraction has an authentic feel of a real railway from years ago, right down to the attendants uniforms but particularly the steam locomotive pulling the carriages. A bonus for any adults is the strategic position of the station stop halfway along the route, being right next to 'the smallest pub in Britain'! The grandchildren really enjoyed it - a must for any family visiting Cleethorpes.
