Owner description: Pleasure Island family theme park is full of rides and attractions that can be enjoyed by the whole family. From toddlers to grandparents, there's something for everyone. One of the great things about Pleasure Island is that the family group need never be separated, as there are so many family activities. Apart from the many family rides, such as the Mini Mine train, the Whirly Twirl and the traditional Carousel, our wonderful shows are professionally produced to provide all round family entertainment.

Booked online in advance but didn't realise I had to print off my ticket. As I was staying at Haven next door I couldn't so I phoned up. Got through straight away to a very helpful lady who said not a problem, we will have them waiting for you. When we got there I joined the queue but then this man came up I checked I was in the right queue, and he said I will go and get them for you, very helpful and kind. Once in we didn't have to wait to get on any of the rides and kids went on every thing 3 times!! staff all happy and want you to have a good time! Yes some of it needs brightening up, but loving the investment made so far! Sealion show, fantastic and the new farm area was great! I also loved the fact you didn't have temptations all over the place, where you feel pressure to spend more money. Please, please support this theme park and keep it open!! No its not alton towers, but kids love the fact they don't have to wait too long and can go on what they want and it has a lovely relaxing feel! Oh and a Costa Coffee, what more do you want!!

Pleasure island is a smallish theme park but there is still plenty to do. Ok so it could use a spruce up but that's just being picky. Plenty of rides for all ages and a fabulous sea lion show at least 4 times daily. The staff are lovely and in particular a young girl on the flying chairs today 11th June is a credit to the park. As we visited midweek during term time also no lines so that was a bonus.

My wife and I visited Pleasure Island on a trip to Cleethorpes at the end of May 2014. The park is less than 2 miles from the town centre, right next to Thorpe Park Holiday Park, and there is plenty of free parking onsite.

We went on a Saturday but the park was still fairly quiet, with almost no queues for any of the rides. Ticket prices for adults are £19.50, but it’s a bit cheaper if you book online, and we found various web sites with £5 off vouchers. Also, when leaving the park, we were given vouchers for £12 entry to use any time during the season.

There’s a good selection of rides for all ages, an amusement arcade, fairground games, various places to buy food, a boating lake, a very nicely presented picnic area, and a new “Furry Friends Farm” where at certain times of day you can meet some of the cute residents.

There are also a number of free shows held frequently throughout the day including a Bird Show (all season), Sea Lion Show (all season), “Professor Tinkaboo’s Magic Factory” (26 Jul to 1 Sep), and a Masai Warrior Show (5 Jul to 7 Sep).

The 20 minute bird show was quite impressive, and if you buy a £1.50 poster after the show one of their parrots will perch on your arm for a photo.

After the entertaining Sea Lion Show we paid an extra £20 for a “Sea Lion Encounter”. During the encounter you get to meet 22 year old Bonnie the sea lion and learn some of the hand gestures the keepers use in the show to let Bonnie know what they’d like her to do.

You can instruct Bonnie to do different things like clap, sing (sort of!), wave, look shy, etc. as well as throw hoops for her to catch and a ball for her to balance on her nose. Although you reward Bonnie throughout the encounter by feeding her fish, she clearly enjoys her “job” and likes the attention.

The keepers are great and make sure you get the most out of the encounter. Although it only lasted about 15-20 minutes, we thought it was well worth the price and was one of the highlights of our day.

The food available in the park is mostly standard fast-food (burgers, hot dogs, pizza, baked potatoes, sandwiches, wraps, salads, ice cream, etc.), but it’s reasonably priced. There’s also the family-friendly McCormacks Restaurant and Bar at the park entrance.

Overall the park seemed well looked-after, and was very clean and litter free.

One thing that particularly impressed us was the park staff. From those manning Customer Services and the entrance gates to those on the rides and in the shops, everyone seemed really cheerful, helpful and friendly.

Although not quite in the same league as the likes of Alton Towers, Pleasure Island was a lot more impressive than we had expected and we really enjoyed our day there. We will definitely go back again.

We went here on 30 May 2014. There was a bit of a wait to get in but nothing like the kind of nightmare you get at Alton Towers. We paid £12 per person with a voucher a kind lady gave us while in the queue !!! (x2 adults & x2 kids aged 9 and 6).
There were a good selection of clearly labelled rides and with the exception of the rapids slide the queues were almost non-existent. Shrieksville was fantastic and the best ghost ride I've managed to find anywhere for quite a while.
Clearly some money has been invested recently with a new looking farm, and tractor ride 'shed'. A couple of old worn out rides waiting (presumably) to be dismantled but understandable given the current financial climate.
No litter, good priced kiosks. Toilets ok. No complaints.
Easy walking distance if you are staying at Haven Thorpe Park like us.
