Stayed the weekend in Sugar Sugar's play lounge. The room was excellent, very well decorated and spacious. The service was fantastic and i would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Loved this hotel !! We stayed in the Morocco room which was lovely, all pale green with a brass four poster bed and morrocan wall lights and little shutters on the windows .
Very modern en suite ,I was amazed at the décor and wanted to look in all the rooms ,Our friends stayed in the Buddha room which was just as nice .
Very different to anything ive stayed in before !
Bar down stairs is very popular and lively, Hotel itself is in a good central location.
Only negative few things missing from the kitchen inventory -cups ? sugar ? but I could live with that .
As a traveller who enjoys a breakfast in the morning I was not dissapointed with this one
Loved it ,Hope to visit again !!

This hotel is excellant. We stayed in the Buddha room and found it to be perfect. The room was presented very well. The bed was very comfy. The plasma TV on the wall was a great touch. The ensuite was clean. The only negative comment is the room had a kettle, coffee sugar etc.. but no cups!!!?? The view over the alley way isnt great, so if you want sea views this hotel isnt for you. Great location near the front and all the bars. The bar below was loud until 2am but we were there to party anyway. If you want a weekend away with friends or your partner I would definately try Sugar Sugar.

I can only say I was pleasantly suprised by my stay at Sugar Sugar. After reading some bad reviews on here I was in 2 minds whether to book with them or not, however I could not find another room anywhere else on the date I required. When I arrived the staff were very pleasant and helped me up with my bags. The room was very trendy (I especially liked the round bed) and clean. Breakfast was served at a time to suit me and was very nice. I will definately stay there again.

Broken glass on the carpet. Breakfast inedible. Fire alarms going off periodically. Lacklustre staff. Brilliant idea, but generally let down by poor upkeep.

Do not stay here on a weekend, if you want sleep! My boyfriend and i booked a room on a friday after driving up from london and attending a wedding . The noise was a nightmare and went on well into the early morning (past 3am). its hardley a hotel its more like rooms above a very busy ,popIular bar, you deal with bar staff rather than hotel staff. for the amount they charge (£90) i was not impressed at all!
On a positive note rooms have fantastic decor and all the staff are freindly, but i got no sleep due to very loud music!!!!!

  • Liked — the rooms are amazing
  • Disliked — very noisy music till past 3am in the morning

Me and my fiance book to stay at Sugar Sugar for 1 night on a Friday. It was easy to find and the staff were quite friendly. I did notice on the way up to our room that the cream carpet was really dirty where people had not wiped their feet and this carried through all the way up the stairs, which was abit off putting.

we stayed in the 'Victoria' room which looked lovley on the pictures on the website and on first impressions we wernt dissapointed at all. The bed was very stylish and comfy (although you could see it was 'well loved' ,if you know what i mean,as you could see the cracks and notches in the paint work on it) and the decor of the room in general was very tasteful. However, one of the bulbs by the bed had blown and there was no bulb at all in the lamp by the window. The room needed abit of TLC i.e the walls needed touching up with paint (as there were chips and finger prints in places). The bathroom was clean and simple but the room as a whole was the best part about the stay.

Me and my fiancee went out for something to eat and came back about 10.00pm. By then the bar downstairs was in full swing with a DJ and music blaring . We felt a bit silly walking through the bar to get to our room, so it would of been better to have a seperate enterance and not to have to go through the bar.

We turned in for the night about midnight but the bar downstairs was still open and the music didnt stop until 2.30am. The bass was so loud it was vibrating through the floor and shaking the bed. We were both tired so didnt go down and say anything but we didnt think it would do much good anyway.

The next morning we went down for breakfast but the bar was empty with no tables laid and nothing out ready for breakfast. A member of staff came and took our order, although we werent given a menu or advised of the choice so we opted for cereal and toast to play it safe. You sort of felt you were lucky to get what you got as it wasnt a propper restaurant and the staff seemed to come and go and you felt like you were just inconveniencing them by being there and asking for breakfast.

Overall it was an ok hotel. I booked it as a suprise for my fiance but a combination of the loud bassy music into the early hours and the fact that you felt like you were hassling them by being there was a bit of a let down. Especially concidering the price of the room.

You would hope that a hotel with a bar underneath would be thoughtful enough to turn the music down at a relativley sociable hour so guests who want to go to sleep before midnight can actually sleep or at least put something on the website which says what time the bar is open til and to expect loud music til it closes.

  • Liked — The room was tastfully decorated
  • Disliked — The music from the bar was too loud and went on for too long
