We visited yesterday lunchtime (Sat) as a family group of 7 and ranged in ages from 11 to 70. We were a little apprehensive about the food but we needn't have worried. Although a little more expensive than normal pub food everything was more than worth it. The food was all freshly cooked and a lot of it was definitely home-made e.g the red onion and goats cheese tartlet, the vegetable soup and chicken parfait. The main courses were large and I can recommend the haddock with chips and minted mushy peas (the tartar sauce also tasted home-made). Service was friendly. I cannot comment on the childrens menu as we all ate from the adult menu. The restaurant was tastefully decorated in lime green and brown and had a view through the french windows of the golf course. on a nice day it would've been lovely to sit out.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review the Brasserie at the Humber Royal following your recent visit. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the experience and thanks for all the fabulous comments. You are so right to point out how lovely it is to sit out on the patio dining or drinking with the breathtaking fairway views. Now that you’ve found us we hope to see you again soon.

Dear Sonja and Roy
I don't think you realise quite how much your comments mean to us...thank you so much for the feedback. Yes we do have a lovely product with panoramic views over the golf course; but it is the people who make the difference. We spend a lot of time and effort recruiting, training and motivating the team - your comments are invaluable in confirming that we are getting it right! We hope to see you again when you next visit the area.
Best wishes

I have been living in Indonesia for some years and last month I returned to my home town with my family and we all stayed at the Humber Royal, there were 3 adults and 3 children so we took 2 family rooms. From check in to check out the service was excellent, staff very friendly and caring and the food, very, very good. I had stayed there earlier this year and have booked to go back in October. What I personally like also is the fact that it was built as a hotel, I am not too keen on many of the large old houses that are converted into hotels. Very much looking forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: Balcony room facing the golf course.

Dear Mr Storer
Thanks for taking the time out to post your kind comments on TripAdvisor. Being a purpose built hotel which has benefited from a huge refurbishment recently, we have a number of family rooms and pride ourselves on the warm and sincere welcome we extend to families. We’ve linked up with a number of local attractions to bring offers and ideas to help entertain all ages. Good to hear you’ll be returning later in the year – we look forward to seeing you again then.

My husband and I had to visit Grimsby on business and needed a comfortable hotel for the night. We found The Royal Humber through an internet search, read the TripAdvisor reviews and booked up! We're so glad we did - from the moment we arrived we found staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Yes, from the outside the first impressions are that you're about to check into a tired hotel, limping its way through the 21st century desperately trying to cling onto its 1960s heritage. It looks very grey and desolate from the car park.... But oh my... can looks be deceiving! Inside the hotel is light, bright, airy and comfortable. Every area is tastefully styled and offers a welcoming feel from the bar area to the lovely rooms. We stayed in a delux double and were very comfortable. We ate lunch and then breakfast on the following day in the brasserie restaurant which is all part of the bar area so you take your pick on whether you sit formally or in more relaxed seating around the bar. The food was great - uncomplicated, unfussy and inexpensive..... (our only criticism was that staff need coffee making training as they are using a traditional group/infusion machine but the staff serving us were rather inexperienced and incapable of making coffee well using this very unique method). There was a wedding reception being held on the night we were staying and this in no way disturbed us or interfered with our enjoyment. All in all, the Royal Humber offered us a friendly, relaxed and intimate experience that you come to expect from a smaller, family run establishment with the professionalism of a massive chain. Well done Royal Humber and Thank you!!!!

Room Tip: Request rooms which overlook the neighbouring golf course - the views are stunning! We stayed way up...

Many thanks for your kind comments, I’m thrilled that you enjoyed your recent visit. I’m pleased that you were able to experience a number of our facilities and that we looked after you well throughout. It really gives us all a buzz when we read comments such as yours, reconfirming that we’ve got the right people working for us. As you rightly point out we are able to balance a friendly relaxed service whilst delivering professional, quality standards. Thanks for pointing out our shortcomings with regard to coffee service, Natalie our Food & Beverage Manager has re-trained all involved to ensure we get it right. Hope to see you again when you next visit the area.

We found this hotel by chance and from the outside we were not expecting much. But to our surprise it was actually okay! The rooms are clean, spacious and the bathrooms are lovely. Everything you could possibly need.

As they say don’t judge a book by the cover! We are unfortunately a pretty ugly building from the outside, dating back to the 60’s, but well worth checking out. Nice to hear that we exceeded your expectations once you crossed the threshold. Thanks for helping to spread the word on our behalf.

We live in the area and went here for a wedding reception. Our baby girl would not settle and refused a feed in the baby changing room downstairs so I was about to go try feeding her in the car when the staff kindly offered us an empty room to settle and feed her. Lovely room and amazingly helpful staff, can be recommended!
