Went to visit my family who live in Scartho ,and told my wife and i we were in for a surprise treat as they`d booked us all in for a meal at the Beeches.Having never before been they have raved about it for years and finally we had the chance to go together.I hate negativity and i realise its very hard to please everyone. All i can say is that we did get a surprise but unfortunately not a very good one.Very small portions and food was cold and the all important taste just wasn`t there. Were hoping to have at least a decent dessert, the brulee was runny and had obviously curdled. We paid up and left,my family were very embarrased as they had told us we were in for a treat. Can`t say we`ll be going back in a hurry.

Visited restaurant for our Christmas meal and yes we had heard about the poor reviews recently, but kept an open mind. Quality had definately gone down, shop bought pate and cheese, mains were okay but if that's what we wanted I could have gone to Tesco's and done that myself! Come on new owners you can do better than this!! Grimsby needs a decent restaurant and the locals will support you

We visited The Beeches restaurant last night for our annual Christmas meal, to find that although the cost has increased by around 20% since last Christmas the quality of the experience, food and wines has gone down by a significant amount. We go to the Beeches for a really fine dining experience, alas we won't be going again. Why would anyone put olives on the dining table rather than in the bar/lounge area where you can enjoy your pre-dinner drinks? Why would you put warm bread on the table before the diners arrive to let it go cold? and more interestingly why would you serve a good red wine, icy cold with the words 'sorry it's just come from the cellar'. The new owners are obviously cutting corners with the food as well, the smallest Thai fishcakes I have ever seen, no vegetables with the salmon dish, the waitress said the meal didn't come with them, although she did bring them when we asked. No condiments were offered to the diners in our party who were having steak, although once again when asked they were bought to the table. There was no coffee included with the meal, another drop in standards. All this for over £150 for 4, and remember this was a 'Set Menu'.

It's a shame, The Beeches has always had one of the best reputations in Grimsby but the half empty dining room just prior to Christmas clearly demonstrates that customers will have to look elsewhere for somewhere that goes 'the extra mile' as the Beeches used to.

Room Tip: As Grimsby residents we only used the restaurant

We had been visiting their restaurant regularly in the past. Was pleased in previous years. Hence went to them in December 2012 for a departmental Christmas meal. Service was very slow. Lack of enthusiasm seen in members of staff. Had fish cakes as starters - have not seen so tiny fish cakes before. Also not very tasty. Other friends also were not happy with their starters. Main course - fish, was tolerable. Ordered creme brulee for dessert - it was a complete disaster ! Other friends were also not very happy with the whole experience. Wont go to them again !

As a regular customer of the Beeches I felt it neccassary to write a review after reading all these negative comments.
My family have dined here for a number of years now and like everyone else was sceptical when we heard that new management were in place. Not one to be put off we booked in as normal. We were greeted by a middle aged gentleman who I believe to be one of the management team. He was extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and it pains me to say this but it was as good if not better than our previous visit. So, i'm unsure where all this negative feedback is coming from but as a regular and I consider myself a valued customer, I will be returning and recommending as always.

We have been here lots of the years, we didnt realise it had changed hands but to be honest that wouldnt have stopped us going for a meal as the restaurant has a very good reputation. There's obviously been changes the the menu, very disappointed with the quality of food and service all round. Choice poor, slow service, seems to have been a lot of staff changes which
is a shame as thats one of the reasons we liked going so much. Overall it was a very average
night out ! Why do people seem to want to fix/change something that isnt broken ! Suspect the food they now buy in isnt anywhere near same quality as previous owners. Doubt we will venturing back there anytime soon ! What a shame as such a lovely place in an ideal spot.

How very disappointed we were when we booked The Beaches for a family meal.
The food which is usually very fresh, locally sourced and of an ecceptionally high standard was of poor quality and very poorly presented.
We later found out that the original staff are no longer in situe this was obvious.
I would Normally rave about the Beaches and the excellent service we have always recieved in the past.
Now i would advise any one thinking of eating there to think again..
