The air flow within this historic hotel is very poor the result is stifling. Our room facing the front street was most unpleasant hot airless and if we had opened the window incredibly noisy. The restaurant was used only for breakfasts and on the first night for dinner (since dinner was included in the mini break package). The food was best described as mediocre although the portions were quite generous. The ambiance was not existent and the service virtually non-existent. Breakfast we were informed was served until 0930 when we came down at 0900 the breakfast buffet was largely cleared away and there was little in the way of an apology. My cooked food took forever and when it arrived it was obviously food that had been reheated under the grill and as a result was burnt. When the above issues were reported to the duty manager at reception the response was underwhelming and reflected the hotel in general. Classed as an AA three star it is definitely trading on the past. I wouldn't personally give it any stars and I certainly won't be returning.

Room Tip: Don't book rooms in the old part of the hotel they are airless, hot and noisy. I assume the mode...

Stayed for three nights last weekend and accommodation was Great. Very clean and comfortable. Only problem was heating came on at approx. 3am and it was like a furnace!
Our thanks go to Christina who was very attentive and made our stay even better. Evening meal was excellent and wholesome. Looking forward to going back next year.

This was a 2 night break that we planned quite quickly and we weren't disappointed. We saw the hotel the last time we visited Horncastle and decided to give it a try. We usually stay in accommodation out of towns but this is centrally located in the centre of Horncastle and more convenient for visiting all the antique shops in the town. The frontage looks small but it is much bigger inside than first appearances and a big car park at the back which is approached from driving round the front and side of the hotel. The room was large, comfortable and clean.
There were no problems with noise as the back of the hotel is quieter than the front. The service and friendliness of all the staff is excellent. When we went to our room I noticed the tissues and handwash hadnt been replaced, but as soon as I requested them they were brought straightaway. We had breakfast and dinner on both days and the choice, service and quality of the food was excellent.
We thoroughly enjoyed our break and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: If you want quiet - the back of the hotel for less noise from the traffic.

Room 408 very very noisy from road traffic noise. Staff when leaving off at 11pm shouting goodbye see you in the morning. Bathroom skirting boards rotten and paint peeling. Very disappointed as it looked so good. Nice breakfast!

(Couple aged 25 and 28)...Lovely hotel... Booked the Flagship Suite which is such a beautiful room (and the best in the hotel)! Unfortunately there was a wedding party on the night we stayed...the flagship suite is firstly overlooking the garden and back entrance so around 7pm had to pre-warn reception that the screaming children had better calm down by the time we went to bed as we had to be up at 6am.
The screaming stopped...then the music began (the events room/stairs are right next door to the suite!!!) We put up with the music/constant going up and down the stairs, as there wasn't anything we could do and with the TV up load it was ok! managed to get to sleep to then be awoken at 1am by partying guests screaming and swearing right outside our room and in the room next door...this went on for 40minutes before i finally lost my temper and called someone from reception to sort it out! Luckily we complained again in the morning and had a 50% refund...the hotel and food are amazing but such a let down with the noise! especially in the most expensive room in the hotel!

Room Tip: Flagship Suite is lovely....just don't expect any sleep if there is a party!
