Disappointed NO SLEEP

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks ago
Not a good nights sleep , our twin beds were what I call Kiddies beds (Not standard adult size ) and the mattresses had seen better days, Tip for the Manager you pay £80 for the night and you try and sleep on one of those beds !!!!

very disappointed

Room Tip: Don't book a standard twin room unless you want a kiddies bed with a worn out mattress

Came for the murder mystery weekend, had a ball. Couldn't fault the place. Great service and entertainment, food was excellent. Rooms were large and modern. Staff second to none. We're coming back again.

We stayed over for 1 night on a weekday. On arrival I received a note on my phone that my room had been changed. We were greeted by a receptionist who didn’t even bother to explain breakfast times etc. We were given room 107 (which was supposed to be a superior room) and to say we were extremely disappointed is an understatement. The room was completely outdated and tatty and is in desperate need of redecoration. The only window was in the sitting area and this overlooked a tatty courtyard which looked like it was being used as a dump site. The bedroom had no window whatsoever and felt slightly like a dungeon.
Everywhere we looked there was chipped/ marked and scuffed walls, ceilings and skirting boards. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever had the misfortune to sleep in and the pillows were flat. The bed creaked so much that during the night my husband turned over and the noise from the bed woke me up.
We ate in the bar at night as there was some sort of OAP holiday going on and they had taken over the dining room. The food was ok although the potato skins could have done with a bit longer in the oven as the cheese wasn’t even melted on them.
I didn’t bother with breakfast in the morning but the husband did and said it was ok but the bacon and sausage were not great quality.
On departure the same receptionist showed the same disinterest in us and didn’t even bother to ask if we had enjoyed our stay. Whilst there I saw 2 different people complaining about their rooms. If we were staying more than the 1 night I would have asked to move room but as we arrived late afternoon and left in the morning I didn’t see the point.
If any of the staff had bothered to ask how our stay was I would have let them know but hey ho they didn’t seem to care at all. The bar staff and the lady in the restaurant were warm and welcoming though.
This hotel could be fabulous so it is such a shame that I have had to write this review. It is in a lovely peaceful location and the views outside are wonderful. Next time we are in the area we will be looking elsewhere for our accommodation.

The rooms were ok nothing special.
Senior staff looked like they had a bad smell under their nose. The bar prices were daylight robbery £58.40 for 4 double vodka a cokes! No wonder people sneaked their own booze in.
The food was luke warm tasteless blergggh!.
Would not recommend.
