“Perfect quiet getaway”
Reviewed 22 September 2010

Like many people we have busy jobs and not that much free time so when we have the chance to have a weekend away it has to be good. And this is as good as it gets. Michael and Eric are wonderful hosts - helpful, friendly and obviously accomplished chefs. The decor is just right for an historic house with a modern day function. The lounge areas are comfortable and have quirky features (like the orangutan with a plastic banana). We had the Blue Room and could see grouse, squirrels and rabbits from the bath. The room was very well furnished and the extra touches - toiletries wine and chocolates make a real difference.
We had dinner both evenings - the 5 course dinner on Saturday was brilliant. I can rarely finish 3 courses but with the right portion size and fantastic menu composition I ate the lot!
The hotel is really quiet no traffic noise, sounds frm other rooms or anything else that would be intrusive or disturb a relaxing break.
There are 5 rooms to choose from so we plan on at least another 4 visits to try them all.
Unreservedly recommended.

As part of an early midlife crisis my best girl chum and I decided to tackle the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. We are fussy ladies who dont camp and expect a certain standard of accommodation. Austwick Hall did not disappoint.
What a beautiful property, lovingly restored with charming fabrics and bits from around the world.
All the rooms are stunning and even though the one left when we booked had the "as yet to be renovated" bathroom (about which the owners were very honest) it was top!
The location is stunning, the ambience perfect and the hosts exactly the right mix of efficient and not intrusive.
The garden is clearly a work of love as is the food.
A great location for a child free romantic weekend and I shall be taking my husband.
A great base for doing the 3 peaks but knowing you can come back to a decent vintage and a roll top bath.

From a warm welcome we entered a fantastic building and were shown to a magnificent room with every comfort, marrying history and contemporary decor (without any chintz!). The house and gardens are overflowing with fabulous artifacts and sculptures. The food is wonderful, the best ingredients cooked to perfection.
Don't hesitate - just go!!

Everything you could want in luxury - you'll find at Austwick Hall, but it's not fussy. Historic Austwick Hall is a combination of style, quality, beauty, history, and fun. Our room was gorgeous and included a bathroom larger than most hotel suites. The food is delicious and the service perfect. The gardens are a complete treat! There is a formal garden, a water garden, and a woodland walk that delighted us with enchanting, larger-than-life sculptures. The hosts, Eric and Mike, were friendly, good-humored, and very helpful in planning our day trips from the Hall. We've visited Britain many times and were very impressed with this discovery in Yorkshire.

We booked last minute for a single night stay - made to feel very welcome on arrival. Only confirmed dinner request on arrival and were treated to a special evening of lovely food and warm hospitality. Enjoyed a well cooked breakfast before leaving. Looking forward to a return visit

We stayed in the four poster room. We had looked at the virtual tour and the real thing did not disappoint. The room was clean, spacious and the kingsize four poster bed definately had the wow factor. It was such a comfy bed as well, a real good nights sleep. The hosts Micheal and Eric were very warm and welcoming. Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted fresh coffee. This was prepared and served in the drawing room with some really yummy biscuits. This welcoming touch was lovely after a tiring journey. We were also given a guided tour of the house. The garden is something else, it's obvious a lot of love and care goes into it. We had the evening meal in the hotel and this did not disappoint. The food was cooked to perfection and just the right portion size as was the breakfast. We loved the attention to detail in the room, the personal touches. Wine, chocolates, fresh milk, robes, slippers and toiletries to say the least. The fact it also has WiFi access is also a bonus. The hotel only having five rooms makes it feel very intimate. We loved our stay and will most definately be going back again.

Situated above the tiny village of Austwick in the hills above Bowland forest Austwick Hall is an elegant country house hostelry providing the perfect English country weekend retreat. From the sweeping staircase in the main lobby to the intimate dining room and well uphlstered drawing rooms, Austwick halls offers sumptuous comfort. We stayed in the Blue Room . more a suite than a bedroom - large bedroom with confortable armchairs , Through a door you find a separate bathroom area with freestanding roll topped bath - and another separate dressing area. Refined elegance far removed from the uniformity of modern brand name hostelries.

Dinner is a sumptous feast, local produce well cooked and simply presented. No tricks no clever investions, just perfectly cooked ingredients in the right quantities.

The service is impeccable, every request met, every question answered.

If you are looking for cheap accommodation this is not the place, but if you want a perfect weekend of luxury in traditional country house style, in a small residence with only four bedrooms guaranteeing personal service, you will not be disappointed
