I was very reluctant to review this place; it is a secret too good to be shared.
We spent Easter 2015 here, and whilst we were lucky with the weather, it would be an ideal place, however difficult your fell bashing aspirations are.
Should you have none of those, there are so many attractions within easy reach.
The cottage is immaculate, every detail having been thought out. It is very warm, and relaxing. Nearby is the village pub, (booking essential, for excellent French style food).
There is also a very well stocked shop within a thirty second walk, which is much undersold.
The star of the show, however, is Moughton Cottage. However long you are lucky enough to spend here, it will bring a smile to your face.
A wonderful find.

I stayed for 2 nights as a couple and the cottage was faultless. Everything was clean and presented well. I would definitely recommend to anyone! Will be returning very soon
Having stayed at Moughton Cottage on 2 previous occasions, I booked last minute for a long weekend in February. Myself and 2 of our children (age 7 and 10) had a wonderful time in this beautiful cottage while Hubby was hard at work! We did a lovely walk from the village to Elaine's cafe at Feizor which both children did without moaning (there was a promise of bacon butties and hot chocolate when we got there!!). It was lovely to get back to the cottage and play a few board games in front of the fire and relax for a couple of hours(lots of games and DVDs in the cottage to keep all ages entertained). The children were eager to take the provided fishing nets to the stream down Pant Lane as they had so much fun doing this on our last visit - ideal water level for paddling in wellies and great fun building dams. We also had a drive to Kirby Longsdale where there are plenty of shops and cafes to wander around. As on our previous stays at Moughton Cottage everything about the place was super - it is beautifully decorated and furnished and set in a stunning location on the village green.

Our family of 5 stayed at Moughton Cottage in December on our way to Scotland for Christmas. What a beautiful spot. The cottage is beautifully decorated, light & spacious but still retaining the charm of an old property. It is not a dark dingy cluttered holiday rental like so many. This cottage has been well thought out and is probably enjoyed by the owners themselves using good quality products. Loved it!
PS The Game Cock Inn in Austwick serves great food and only a 2 minute walk from the cottage. We will certainly return in warmer weather to explore the dales further.

We were lucky enough to stay at the cottage over the Christmas holiday period. It looks great on the website but is even better on arrival. It had plenty of space to accommodate initially two of us, and then family and friends in the following days. The wood burner is terrific and makes the lounge a lovely relaxing and cosy area. The pub is staggering distance from the cottage, which was perfect after a day on the hills. The choice of walks is endless and apart from visiting family in Lancaster, the car stayed put throughout the holiday. Would thoroughly recommend.

This was our second stay at Moughton Cottage. As before the cottage was immaculate and welcoming. We had beautiful weather for Oct/Nov and the children had great fun at the trick and treat walkabout organised by the local pub (The Game Cock). We spent a lovely day in the Lake District which is only about 35 minutes away. We had a great meal in the Game Cock on the Saturday tea time followed by an evening in front of a roaring fire back at the cottage. There are endless walks from the cottage - short or long and the views from the cottage are beautiful.
