Just got back from a lovely stay at the Wood View in Austick. Although the temperatures outside were around freezing, the welcome from David and Sue was warm. The room was delightful and the log fire in the lounge was a welcome site after a day's walking. My wife and I would highly recommend the Wood View and we will be visiting again.

Our first stay in Austwick at Wood View was everything we expected from previous reviews. Very friendly and helpful advice from David and Sue. The scones on arrival and home made biscuits were lovely. Everything was first class and faultless. Our 3 night stay was most enjoyable and we even had good weather to add to the satisfaction. Highly recommended. The Buckleys

Room Tip: We had king sized room on top floor but all rooms seemed to be very spacious and well equipped. We...

We had another warm and enjoyable stay at Wood View over the Easter weekend. The weather was bitter cold, which didn't prevent us scaling Ingleborough, so it was a pleasure to return to a comfortable sofa in front of the wood fire.
The room was spotless, the water hot and plentiful (for a deep bath) and the bed crisp and comfortable.
Dave and Sue are perfect hosts and we felt very at home with them. We look forward to staying again.
Andy and Karen.

Blaby Fellwalkers, mature group of seven returned to Wood View for the 3rd year running. Our 3 night stay with first class food, super accommodation and hospitality provided by Sue and David was excellent. Home made cakes and biscuits, help with planning routes, flask filling, anything we requested. This Bed and Breakfast is superb and provides an ideal base for day walking without using a car. We all look forward to returning next year.

This was our first stay at Wood View and we are looking forward to many more. Sue and David welcome you to share their lovely home; attentive whenever you want but also respect your privacy.
We booked the king sized room on this occasion, very comfortable and spotless. Little touches like homemade biscuits in the room and filling your flask for the day are so thoughtful.
Davids encyclopaedic knowledge of the area means that he can come up with just the right walk for you at the drop of a hat - he even makes you a map!
The wonderful breakfast sets you up for the day, then your stay gets you discount on really good pub food a few doors down.
Thank you to a lovely couple for a wonderful weekend.

Just returned from another fabulous 3 night stay at Wood View. Not too sure how many stays we have had with David & Sue but we are never disappointed. Wonderful Bed & Breakfast in the heart of a lovely village in the Dales. One of the best as you can see from the other reviews. David & Sue are the ideal hosts and the breakfast is one of the best - superbly cooked by Sue! The are five rooms available - two at the front and one at the back on the first floor and two superior rooms on the second floor (beware the low beams) and all are furnished to a high standard.

I have to comment on the “Disappointing” review posted by Sarah B. I was a guest on the same weekend having arrived Friday afternoon to a welcoming tray of tea & cakes/biscuits in front of a roaring log fire. The house was warm and cosy all weekend - including our bedroom on the first floor. At this time of the year I understand the heating is on 24/7 if the weather demands, as it was this weekend. The room mentioned in the review was a superior room - which we have stayed in before so am unsure was was “lacking”. As this is a traditional Yorkshire Dales house ceilings can be low to people above a certain high (my daughters boyfriend is 6’ 3” and also has this issue) but this is normal for lots of traditional old inns/hotels/B & B’s throughout the country.

With regarding to the locking of the front door, Sarah B had apparently mistakingly slid the catch closed on the Yale type front door lock meaning it was unable to be opened using the guest key supplied. My wife and I were awoken at just after 11.30pm by some guests and the owners (who had popped out to visit some local friends) who were unable to get back into the the B & B. I then had to pop down (in night attire) to let every one in! The following morning at breakfast any comments made were in a very light jovial way by everyone regarding the previous nights event. The whole incident was taken in good heart by everyone concerned - including the guests who where locked out.

So don’t be put off by the Sarah B review - go stay there yourself and enjoy the beauty of Austwick and the surrounding Dales!
