“Updated Review - still fab!!”
Reviewed 25 August 2009

I posted a review back in December 2007 about Wood View and raved about it then. We have since been back about four or five times and the true test of a great B&B is whether or not you get consistency. Well, each and every time Sue and David exceed expectations.

The more we go the more we love it. A combination of the surrounding area, local eateries (we've dined at the Maypole in Long Preston, Gamecock Inn next door to the B&B, Traddock Hotel in Austwick, Ravenous in Settle and the Angel at Hetton) , Dales villages and general tranquility make this a very special place.

Stayed for two nights.

Lovely little village, offering a great base for exploring the surrounding area.

Wood View offers a great location, easy parking, lovely rooms and excellent hospitality from Sue and David.

Can't fault it and will go there again.

Good location on the green in this quiet and picturesque village. Our room was great - especially nice to have a bathroom big enough.Everywhere spotless, fine breakfast cooking. Car parking limited on site, but plenty of room even on a summer weekend just outside on the road. Owners are very nice indeed, which makes all the difference, doesn't it? Unpushy, but very friendly and happy to arrange anything wanted for their guests. Good value for money. Highly recommended.Did not try Gamecock next door ,as Ravenous restaurant in Settle market place was outstanding

What a delightful experience it was to spend a couple of days in the lovely village of Austwick and especially the wonderful welcome we recieved at Wood View.
Everything exceeded our expectations during our stay, including breakfast and the hospitality is truly exeptional. We shall certainly visit again and again and again....

Absolutely lovely guest house in a pretty part of the Yorkshire Dales, we were welcomed by a cup of tea and cakes by an open log fire. Sue and David the owners are both really friendly and down to earth. Nothing was too much trouble. It was my partners birthday and Sue popped a little candle into one of the cakes, such a lovely touch. The rooms are all spacious, nicely decorated and immaculate. Hairdryer, Toiletries and even a charger for your mobile phone were provided. The breakfast was excellent large choice and perfectly cooked. We had a meal in the pub next door and the food was very good there too. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone. We will definately be back and stay a lot longer next time.

  • Liked — The warm welcome
  • Disliked — Beams look lovely but my partner is 6ft 6 and kept banging his head, wouldn't stop us going back

We stayed here for the weekend in February as we were walking Ingleborough. Such a lovely place, a very warm welcome from the owners when we arrived. The bedroom was pretty, spacious and immaculate. The breakfast was superb, the poached eggs are perfect! When we arrived back to the B and B on the Saturday after our walk we were given a tray with a very large selection of delicious home-made cakes and tea by the fire, very welcome after such a long walk. I can thoroughly recommend this place, far better than many expensive hotels I have stayed at! Also had some tasty, hearty meals at the Gamecock Inn.
