Description: The George and Dragon Inn is a timeless Victorian gastro pub nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park complete with a crackling log fire, traditional ales on tap, a patio with views of Pen Hill and rustic walls decorated with framed sketches. We couldn't think of a cosier place to settle in with a bottle of red than the George and Dragon Inn's down-to-earth dining room, and apparently we're not the only ones. With one AA Rosette under its belt, the restaurant is a popular spot for Sunday roasts, afternoon tea and hearty evening meals, and the modern British menu includes signature dishes such as the roast Nidderdale chicken breast served with smoked applewood risotto.

The title sums it up really, 3 different meals over 3 nights and all were lovely. Friendly staff, would recommend.

“In The Heart Of The Dales”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Brilliant Yorkshire bitter and superb food. We ate in the restaurant for three consecutive evenings and had superb meals every time. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Typical main course cost approx. £14 and we never made it as far as the dessert!

“What a shame”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

We had high hopes for our dinner here but we're very disappointed by the front of house staff (barman/landlord). We arrived to a very lukewarm/cold reception by the landlord?!/Barman. We didn't take much notice of this until my husband ordered a pint of Peroni while waiting to be seated for dinner. Unfortunately the pint did not taste right, it was sour tasting. When this was raised politely with the landlord?/barman, he immediately defended what he had sold based on his reports that other people were drinking peroni and not complaining! He did not take our complaint in any way seriously or even taste the peroni he was selling and defending. In fact he implied that we didn't know what it should taste like (??!!) and we ended up having to buy a replacement pint of another beer. We would have left at this point but as it was a Saturday we thought we would not get a table elsewhere and we were very hungry so we reluctantly stayed. The food was very tasty and the service from waitresses was good. What a shame about the front of house ?!!! This landlord needs to learn about costumer service if the establishments is to do the chef n rest of staff justice. Really disappointing considering the good food. We would return simply based on our interaction with the barman/landlord. Go yo aysgarthbfalls arms or Wensleydale heifer for a decent drink and proper costumer service.

“George & Dragon!”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We went here for an evening meal, scallops on a "paellay" base then Venison Wellington...clever move, not completely enveloped in pastry! Washed down with a couple of different beers! Good!

Why did chap behind bar feel the need to correct me? Ah well...but can recommend giving it a whirl!

“Nice Pub, Good Food but Stingy Quantity.”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

I had the steak pie, which was great, it was hot, good quality, decent portion and fair price, whilst my son had the smoked haddock, which was one of the smallest pieces of fish I had seen and I have had smoked haddock in restaurants many times.

This was a shame as the pub décor was great and the welcome by the Landlord and staff was very welcoming.
