“Small, but very nice!”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

We stayed here on the 2nd night of our mini break after making the short drive along the M62 from Hull.

We found the place really easily - head up the A64 and you will see it on the right, just follow signs for Bilbrough Services.

We got a parking space quite near as it was empty when we arrived (5pm) but the car park soon filled after.

We checked in , and were greeted once again with the excellent cheery welcome we always expect (and get) from Premier Inn. The staff we have encountered at these chains are excellent they must be doing something right ! They gave both of our girls some colouring books and crayons too.

We headed to our room on the ground floor thankfully, and a quick bag drop and back to the restaurant. It is a very small in comparison to other PI's, but probably normal for a services. It was bright, airy and didnt feel that small once sat. It was nice and empty so we had the run of the place, and we were shown a table and brought a high chair very quickly.

Food was nice, we ordered the Makhani curry - we always joke about how its boil in the bag, and this time I actually saw him open the bag and pour it in the Balti dish :) .. but i think you would be pretty naive if you thought it was anything other! It was still very nice and the kids enjoyed theirs. The Becks Vier on tap was also very nice :)

We had a really nice room, with a big 37" LED tv on the wall so we could all watch a little TV when back in the room. We all had an amazing nights sleep, even our youngest (21months) slept for 10 hours.

All in all another excellent stay at Premier Inn. Our family won't stay anywhere else, you can't fault them for the price

Room Tip: All subject to road noise, but it's not a big issue. Ground floor if you can :)

Didn't expect this to be as good as it was. Paid £19 for a family room, on a promotion. Room was spotless. Shower was amazing, really powerful and loads of hot water. Large screen TV. Just could not fault it. Yes, we will be doing this again.

Room Tip: Have ticked terrible on Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre. There weren't any, but I just couldn...

Well what can we say? On our arrival we parked our cars, free of charge and with ease, in the adequately sized car park before making our way to reception. We stayed here as a family for a short mid-week break, occupying 2 family rooms on the ground floor, and it was lovely to be met by such warm and friendly staff. The booking in process was easy and only took a short time to complete. We were looked after from start to finish with everything that we needed to make our stay pleasant. Our room was very nice, clean and bright with comfortable beds. The breakfasts, both premier and continental, were served quickly and the food was very hot . Although it did mention possible noise from the nearby road we can honestly say that we weren't affected by it at all and we would recommend this Premier Inn to anyone. Once again, to Andrea. Jackie & Rebecca on reception and all the other staff, we would like to say a big 'Thank You' for being so freindly and looking after us throughout our stay. THANK YOU!!

Used this Premier Inn as a stop over on the way back from collecting daughter from barracks in York. Check in, pay on arrival, room, all excellent as like other Premier Inns we have stayed at. No complaints at all, even offered us help with swipe card for lift and to assist with suitcase.Good nights sleep despite some road noise. Thank you.
However the attached restaurant is a shambles, too small and average food.Drinks and food orders taken quickly and courteously but the wait for food was tedious. OK , I don't mind waiting if it's to be a truly presentable and tasty meal but this was disasterous. I was presented with the most inedible piece of rump steak. It was one solid lump of gristle, fat and sinuet. Any half decent chef would not even have bothered to cook it let alone serve it to a paying guest !! I have eaten steak all around the world (and from various animals) but this was not even recognisable, I would not even have given it to a stray dog. I couldn't even cut a corner to see if it was rare/medim ! The other meals were OK but not spectacular. I have to give the staff (Lucy and Steve) a pat on the back as they did try and salvage the situation when I pointed out the mass on my plate pretending to be steak but by the time they finally got round to offering to cook another I'd already eaten the cold peas and chips as I was hungry and didn't want to spoil our already interupted family meal.
Advice - avoid the restaurant, go to McDonalds or fish and chip restaurant also on site. At least you know what you'll be getting !!

Room Tip: Avoid the steak !

We stayed here just to break the journey on the way to our final destination. Having stayed in many PI's across the country we sort of knew what to expect and were not the least bit dissapointed, well almost. On arrival booking in was as slick as always. Finding the room was easy and we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was on that had recently been refurbished, spotlessly clean (as usual) and every where it should be. The evening meal was to the usual menu, well cooked, value for money and a waiter (trainee) that was customer orientated. After a good nights sleep came breakfast and what a shambles that was. I am not an expert here but clearly better staff organisation was lacking with the waiting staff (again trainee) dependent on instructions which were not forcoming. All that was required was an assignmment of simple tasks such as clearing and cleaning tables for incoming guests. Basically the duty manager saw the number of customers and quickly hid - if only avoiding pressure was as easy as that! Eventually we were seated at an occasional table between the till and the main door - as less than desirable spot which we were happy to vacate as soon as practical. This would not deter me from staying at any Premier Inn as I recognise that this is likjely to be a unique issue.

Stayed here with wife and young daughter from 15th to 20th July. Used it as a base to visit York and Scarborough. Easy parking and close to great Park n Ride.
Room was spotless and looked like it had been recently upgraded.
Staff were all very friendly.
Yes, the restaurant is quite small and there can be a bit of a wait when it's very busy but that didn't bother us as the food served was always good. Also, the staff were always very apologetic when there was a delay and all the guests there seemed to realise they were serving as fast as they could.
We've stayed in a lot of Premier Inns over the years and York SW is one of the very best for sure.

My wife and I stayed one night on a short business trip on which we usually stay at Premier Inn locations. Normally I would not even bother reviewing them as they are all of the same mould.

This Premier Inn has had the room 'makeover' with new furnishings flat screen TV etc and is clean and has the air conditioning system that nobody seems to know how to make work properly.

Check in was fine, restaurant is integral to hotel at this site that is out of town so we booked a table.

When we got to the small restaurant / bar area it became clear quite quickly that nearly the whole restaurant crew were new on the job and did not really know their job yet. I am sure they should have been better trained than they were before being let loose on unsuspecting customers. This was evident throughout the meal but most so when my ice cream sundae dessert arrived in a bowl not a glass! The chef apparently was new as well and incapable of following a manual or copying a dish as per a photo. The bar was reasonably well stocked but the staff did not know what was there. Restaurant supervisor / manager had to apologise to several diners for service standards.

Breakfast service was adequate with the only long standing member of staff on duty it seemed but chef a little slow on the cooked breakfast and I did not get exactly what I asked for but by this time we just wanted to eat and get on the road to our meetings in York and Harrogate.

Would I stay here again? Probably not as the Blossom Street South location in York city centre was nicer, restaurant is better even if you do have to pay to park.
