I had a birthday lunch at the General Tarletonn with friends and the food was exceptional from starters right through to puds - absolutely perfect food and beautifully presented. The front of house team are so helpful, pleasant, cheerful and look after you like family! Well done - I've booked to come again it was so good. Many thanks for a memorable meal!

This was our first time eating in GT and so we went in with very high expectations and we were not disappointed.
The setting is really nice, with a nice bar on arrival, seating by an open fire and the whole place gives off a wonderful atmosphere.
Upon arrival we were sat by the fire, served drinks and given complimentary nibbles while we looked through the menu and decided on our courses.
The food itself was amazing, cooked to perfection, full of flavour and just out of this World. I couldn't compliment it enough on the quality of the food.
The service was also outstanding and wasn't over the top at all, like some other expensive restaurants can be. We were left to enjoy our meal, but we never had to wait to speak to the waiters about anything.

I have visited this restaurant on many occasions and the food, service and staff are second to none. A little expensive but well worth the extra money as you are well looked after by all the staff. I always suggest this restaurant to family and friends.

Now there are restaurants and special places where food is sublime, service is excellent and you feel like wanting to stay as long as it is possible to enjoy every moment of it. We were treated like royalty by manager Enzo (a real gentleman and a fantastic host), the food was the best I have had in a very long time and we were all delighted with the choices we made. My sea bass was by far the best I have ever tasted, the scallops my friend had were well worth the money paid and the beef was tasty and succulent. The desserts were just spectacular. Top marks

Dined as a table of 4 walkins on a tuesday afternoon. We were the only table in.

We were seated promptly, told specials were on a blackboard but given no idea of where it was, and passed some grease-stained, creased cardboard menus

Pig cheek starter, the pig cheeks were lovely, shredded and rolled, tender, juicy, piping hot. However, whoever decided to serve hot pig cheek on undressed, unwashed salad with a few dots of tasteless oil round the plate needs shooting.

Rabbit main course, mini rabbit pie was gorgeous, rabbit leg was tough as old boots and had numerous shards of bone flecked through it. Racks of rabbit loin were dry and overcooked, and the broad beans were mushy, so either overcooked or out of date.

Other diners sampled chilli squid starter ( lovely, but too much chilli) scallop and crab starter ( well presented and tasty), pork belly main course ( pork belly skin was soggy not crispy, Boulanger was unseasoned, menu mentioned crispy pigs ears but none were to be found!)

We didn't sample pudding

Service was woefully innatentive at times and overbearing at others.

Placemats need either binning, replacing, or at least cleaning. The one placed in front of me had a coffee cup ring on it.

Felt the bill was extortionate for the quality of what we are.

Overall, mixed opinions.
