An Inn as it should be - food, refreshment and a comfy bed for the night. The standard in this case was excellent, especially the food. The General Tarleton was a last minute find and one that we will most certainly visit again. Bedrooms are comfortable, they make the best of what they have with nice little touches like, homemade biscuits, water and fresh milk. For a Yorkshireman back on home turf, things couldn't have started off better than a pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord before dinner. The menu had something for us both, plenty of meat and fish and all local, the Seafood Thermidor was a masterpiece and my rib of beef melted in my mouth. The only thing the General Tarleton doesn't have is a comfy lounge area if you are staying over but we weren't rushed from our table so it didn't bother us.
