“Kids loved it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for a long weekend in a superior caravan and we paid an extra £15 to get a 2014 model, this was well worth it as the caravan we stayed in was brand new with awesome central heating and was immaculately clean. We went into brid and Scarborough which are both about a 15/20 mins drive away. We used the arcade on site which was great for a 3 year old and an 18 month old. The swimming pool was great and we used the outdoor whirlpool which is open at weekends. My 3 year old son loved it. We ate in the mash and barrel 3 times and the service was quick and the food was nice (don't expect fine dining obviously but it was good pub grub). We went to the kids club at night and again my 3 year old son and friends 18 month old son loved getting involved and having a dance while we enjoyed a couple of beers. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of the holiday park.
We are very glad that you have enjoyed your stay here at Reighton Sands.

The park is a fantastic base for the local area as you have found with the beautiful seaside towns of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough all being within a 20 minute drive, there is so much to explore.

Our lovely pool area was updated for the beginning of the 2012 season. Also with the development we added our outdoor lazy river which has proved very popular with our guests, and I am pleased that you loved it too.

Your comments regarding the facilities and the park are very much appreciated and I will be sure to pass on the comments to the team, as they love to hear feedback about the great work they are doing to make the park so welcoming and clean.

We hope to see you returning to the park soon.

Kind Regards

We stayed here having saved the £9.50 sun vouchers from The Sun. We have collected the vouchers for a number of years now and have been on a few of the £9.50 holidays and are still to have a bad one!

This site is a perfect location for Scarborough, Bridlington, Robin Hoods Bay, Filey, Flamborough, etc. The facilities on site are great and the caravans are very clean and well kitted out. I would recommend!

We recently had a fantastic holiday on the Reighton sands Haven holiday village. We stopped in a private owned caravan on OAKWOOD. The caravan was located on a great corner pitch that was on a flat plot. We could park our car right outside the door and have the peace of mind that our car was safe. The caravan itself was a DELUXE PLUS model that is exceptionally maintained and spotlessly clean. This was a change from some of the previous ones we have hired direct.
We could not have asked for better service from Steven and Hannah the owners. They ensured we got in early, and provided the FREE TRAVEL COT and HIGHCHAIR we needed for the children.
The kids really enjoyed playing on the large grassed area just in front of the caravan and we could sit and watch them play from the comfort of the lounge area of the caravan.
The caravan is on an area called OAKWOOD PLOT E7 and this was just a few minutes walk away from all the main facilities...
I would highly recommend booking with these people in their caravan as it was better than booking direct... and much cheaper.
We had looked at a few others but we found that they were being advertised by a person acting as an agent.
Hannah can be contacted on 07799642532

Hello

Thank you for posting this great 5 star review.

It sounds like you had a great holiday. Almost all of our pitches on park have their own parking spaces available now – it’s lovely to be able to offer our guest that peace of mind. We pride ourselves on park for providing a safe and secure environment for our guests.

We have lots of caravans with lovely grassy areas outside where children can play – some with absolutely breath taking sea views.

I hope we get the chance to welcome you back soon.

Kind Regards

This seems to be the same as every other caravan park around the area. They all have their good and bad parts and this is no exception.

Bad:
The location isnt great for many different reasons. Firstly the road to get to the site can be likened to a rollercoaster ride where sharp ascents are met with immediate descents. Halfway through there is a blind bend which will certainly challenge any car towing a caravan. The difference here is that it isnt a rollercoaster, its a road. And people should be reminded of it often due to the amount of moronic driving witnessed. When you get to the site you have a long drive to travel along with the most uncomfortable speed bumps you will ever have come across (they are at a 45 degree angle to the road). If you want to go to the beach then there is a fairly testing climb that can only be completed if you were fit enough.
Our caravan was right by the entrance to the site and required a walk along the main driveway to get to the club. if I was with young children then I would have been very annoyed with the lack of a path for the majority of the walk as its too busy to allow walking along the road.
Then there was the caravan itself. The storage was non existant and to say it fit 8 people was an exagguration! Especially as there was only enough cutlery for 4 people. The only caravan that we've been in with worse storage than this one was in Berwick (which will always be remembered for the lack of a bin)!
Then theres the quality of the stuff in the caravan. I can appreciate that its not going to be up there with what you would get in a pros kitchen but surely providing the quality of kit that we had is such a false economy! I say this because in our 3 night stay, our toaster never worked and the microwave didnt seem to be able to cook a jacket potato. It cooked itself though with quite a spectacular result! I can honestly say thats the first time ive seen a microwave break itself.
We had a piece of cake each in the bar. The cake itself was very nice but it was clear it was the last slice so had just been cut in half.

So its onto the good:
The bar was fun to be in, with the singer actually able to sing (rather than someone who's done kareoke one two many times and therefore thinks they are a good singer). We had a laugh on the pool tables, and playing darts. Plus they had decent beer (hobgoblin and abbots) which took me by surprise!
The site itself was clean and tidy, whilst the grounds were well kept (far better than last year where parts of machinery were left dumped around the place).

Everything was as you would expect from a caravan site and whilst this may seem like an overly negative review, a lot of the bad points arent really in the control of the site. That being said, they do need pointing out and If I was looking to stay at a caravan site with little ones then I would probably look to go elsewhere. There's certainly plenty of choice in the area!

Room Tip: Ask for a caravan away from the entrance.

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

As a team we aim to improve day after day – feedback like this really helps us to do so, although as you said, some of this is out of our control.

We are currently undergoing work on the road leading to the park and I can already see an improvement on this. As a park we pride ourselves for providing a safe and secure environment for our guest and the speed bumps around park help us maintain this level of safety.

We are very lucky to have direct access to such a beautiful beach but I agree the road down is steep, however we do have our very own beach train. This takes you up and down the road every 10 minutes –it has proven very popular with our guests.

Im pleased you found the site to be clean and tidy – all the teams on park work hard to achieve this. They will be glad to read your comments.

I will be sure to pass your comments on to the teams on park
I hope to get the chance to welcome you back again soon.
Kind Regards

Myself, husband & 2 kids have just returned from reighton sands, and we loved it! We go to a different haven park each year and this 1 is definitely in my top 5. Our caravan was clean, tidy and ideally located. Night time entertainment was ok, much the same from yr to yr however the kids like it & that's what matters. Only critism I would make is there is very limited changing facilities at the indoor pool, would benefit from larger, more family changing rooms. All in all, we had a brill time and can see myself returning in the future!

We have just spent a long weekend here, couldn't find fault with anything. The location and views are stunning, the beach is very sandy, the only downside is the long, steep downhill walk to get to it(the little train wasn't running when we went down there). The staff are all very friendly, nothing too much trouble. We ate in the Mash and Barrel bar twice and the food was good.
