“Very welcoming and very comfortable”
Reviewed 5 June 2011

Only stayed one night as at the end of doing the Wolds Way but made to feel very welcome. Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was good and they were more than happy to look after my luggage the following morning whilst I did a short walk to the Brig and back

Stayed here with my daughter for a weekend break. The room was very clean and comfortable. The owners were very pleasant and helpful recommending places to eat etc., The breakfast was wonderful with generous portions and the room rates were reasonable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this guest house.

Abbots Leigh Guest House owners Christine and Keith really go out of their way to make their customers feel comfortable. We spent four days in Filey and wished we had booked a few more days as the room we were given had a nice kng size bed and the breakfast system allowed you to choose your breakfast the night before by choosing of a continental, cooked english or dietary from a list you filled in the night before. We enjoyed this because in so many establishments you get the same breakfast day after day. The bacon, sausages and eggs are to quality and plenty. There is juice, grapefruit and other starters whilst the breakfast is cooked fresh. Being new to this part of the coastline coming from Hertfordshire. Christine help us plan the days and took an interest in how we had got on. On the first floor there is a collection of books, small selection of activity and outings and their folder of what to see and do plus some of the menu's of the restaurant's in Filey. Plus a collection of DVD's for children and adults as some of the rooms are family rooms. One thing that we thought was good was the ability if you wanted was to ask them for permission to eat a take away in the breakfast room in the evening. We eat out and found some very good restaurants / pubs. The fishing boats bring in fresh crab and lobsters. The cafe's along the front sell them dressed and as sandwiches. The beach is great for a typical old fashioned seaside resort and the tea rooms are just majic and take people back in time. There are many dog owners but they are not allowed on the main centre of the beach. We had the best meal on the last night in the Corner Cafe/Restaurant. It was a lamb shank cooked so the meat fell off the bone in red wine. It was the best I have ever tasted. The establishment looks like a cafe but on the side it has this newly funished restaurant but its not cheap. We were sorry to leave as we had enjoyed the miles of walking on the beach and hills. The bus ride into Scarborough and to see the donkeys on the 121 which took twenty five minutes. When we arrived we found a parking space in the one way small road outside the guest house. We used the car three times and came back and had no problem finding a space.
