“Noisy Hotel”
Reviewed 11 May 2012 via mobile

The hotel offered good value for money and a decent room. Unfortunately it also came with loud noise outside the rooms until 5am, if you are looking for a room to sleep in this probably isn't the best option

Unfortunately your stay was during the Filey Folk Festival which we are the main venue. We do not close until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays and in this case Sunday. On the night you stayed the pub was closed by 2.30am so I can only assume the noise was from other guests or elsewhere. To avoid this in future we can use a facility with LateRooms which advises potential guests of events at the venue. Thank you for your comments.

The station accomodation is great value for money. We stayed one night and so wanted a basic bed and breakfast setup. The station was a bargain at £35 including breakfast for two. The rooms are across a yard from the pub, so it is very quiet and not disturbed. You have your own front door to come and go as you please and can exit via an external gate to the street. The bed was comfy, room was warm, towels etc of a good quality and complimentary toiletries were a nice touch. The place even had a kitchen area with sink, cupboards full of cutlery and crockery, a fridge and a microwave. This exceeded expectation considering the price. A lovely room and a very enjoyable stay. Breakfast served a quiet pub room overlooking the courtyard. A very high quality and well cooked breakfast, cannot complain! Lovely! The staff were welcoming and friendly. The pub itself was very quiet (we went on a monday) which suited us fine. If you are after a more lively time maybe stay on the weekend as they seem to offer lots of entertainment! A great value stay, comfortable and relaxing. Great place for short stays. Thankyou to the staff at the station.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3. Very quiet, no noise from rooms either side and none from the pub. Only the sou...

We stayed overnight at The Station. The accommodation is indeed plain & simple, yet adequate for our needs. It has a central location, an easy stroll from the main street. We had a complaint which was speedily rectified along with profuse apologies, so no harm done.
The breakfast was large, consisting of juice, cereals, full English with toast & preserves. It was also cheerfully served.
Just a note to Andy, check the detail !

These rooms are converted outbuildings separate from the Pub, and benefit from fridge, microwave, cutlery etc. which could make for a very economical holiday for families on a budget or lads on tour. However, the conversions appear to have been done as a DIY project back in the 1970s, with only electrical appliances having been upgraded since.

The prices charged via their own on-line booking system (with an unexpected discount for 2-night booking) are probably no more than you might pay for a tent pitch at a seaside campsite - and perhaps it is in that context that the accommodation should be viewed.

However, if you are more used to hunting out similarly priced bargain rooms at Travelodge/Premier Inns etc., you may be a little disappointed.

Room Tip: Room 1 has a flat above which adds to the plumbing noises etc.

Although it may look a bit 70s our rooms have all been refurbished within the last 18 months and I'm sure you'll hear plumbing noises in any accommodation where there is a upper floor. Yes, you can sometimes get equivilant priced TL rooms if you book in advance but you don't get dvd, microwave, fridge, toaster and a fully eqipped kitchenette. We appreciate all comments and always try and improve if possible. Thanks.

My husband booked this as a last minute one night escape to the coast and although I was a bit dubious about staying in a pub I couldn't be more surprised and delighted in the quality of the rooms on offer. No wonder people regularly return to the Station for holiday accommodation for a week or two, the en-suite rooms are kitted out with microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, breakfast bar and full washing up facilities so you can feel you have everything you need for a self catering break.

The four rooms are located away from the main pub building with a separate side street entrance so there is no risk of disturbance from the patrons inside. Breakfast is separate and bountiful, worth more than the £5 we paid for a plate that included quality sausage, bacon and black pudding and the eggs are from their own hens so you can't get fresher than that.

This isn't a seaside accommodation with view, its located near the rail station/bus station and is well priced for the area. This really is a hidden gem.
